It's not just BMW for sure but they certainly can handle better. Customers should have been notified much sooner. Waiting to the end to tell customers does seem like they don't give jack or want to give customers much room to say no, I won't take it. I buy supplies for my office and things keep rising and some are often out of stock. So fed up with all these ****. Can we say "Let's go Brandon"?

Did they talk to you about simply moving back in thw queue until the screen is available, or is this *gulp* going to be a long-term no-longer-available item? |

At this point the only option I have to to cancel and get my deposit back, but my current lease is up at month end so I’m taking the vehicle. Truth is I sense my dealer is as frustrated as I am with the lack of communication.

a memo went out to dealerships addressing the most recent deletions, though i don't know its timing relative to your vehicle production. stuff like this should've been communicated before your vehicle even went to 150 status. it seems BMW assumes customers won't cancel a vehicle with a non-touch screen because of the alternative: no screen at all, but there are folks who will. yet, i'm sure BMW also anticipates that if a customer does cancel after-the-fact, someone will still buy the vehicle despite no touch screen. it's a win-win for them, but a punch in the gut to their customers, though. your frustration is completely warranted but could've been posted in the existing thread. hope you enjoy your X5 nonetheless!

I'm sure you've thought of this so curious why you aren't buying your current X5 at the end of lease? We considered this (our '19 40i was fully loaded) but for us it didn't make sense because we were involved in a fender bender so value took a hit, plus we would have likely only kept a year or two so paying the remaining sales tax for such a short time also factored in.

Wonder if they'll update the software so you could still use the back up assistant with the idrive controller vs. the unavailable touch screen? I find that feature very useful due to the less than great back up lights on my X5....

I totally agree with you here. The iDrive system outgrew the wheel and there are just certain situations where touch screen controls are way more efficient

You can set your destination using your phone or even voice commands inside the app using your iDrive controller.

I wasn't referring to just destination what about moving the map around, tapping on notifications etc, iDrive dial has very limited options when it comes to that.

you can use the interactive map using the iDrive controller. When nav (or map) is on, push down and then you can select interactive and use the controller to move around.

I rarely use the touchscreen. I actually find it way easier to use the wheel than the screen. Having to touch the screen means taking your eyes off the road to see the screen to know where to touch. But I'm a pinch it is definitely easier to quickly hit the screen. The idrive interface is very easy and simple to navigate without the touchscreen. CarPlay however is very poorly designed to work without touch.
