If you've done any strength training at all, it doesn't take long to get compound lifts (squat and deadlift) weights beyond 400+ lbs and bench press over 250lbs. I'm really not sure who their target audience is. If you used Tonal regularly, it wouldn't take long before you've outgrown it... I'd imagine most people would find Tonal useless in less than a year, seeking free-weights with more resistance.

I love my Rogue power rack and not having to waste time driving to/from 24 hour fitness anymore, no more waiting for people sitting on gym equipment playing on their phones, wasting time. My 24 Hour fitness membership was only $100/month on renewals... I kept it for a few years thinking I might use it when traveling but I finally let it lapse. I don't miss it at all.
I've been using my tonal for a few months now and I love it. One of the big advantages is space. You basically have a full gym that fits into a small corner

That being said, I mainly use it as a way to maintain good definition and strength. I'm not looking to bulk up or powerlift. But if that's your goal, then I agree, you'll outgrow Tonal.

Can you watch Netflix on the peloton screen?

Edit: found the answer. Yes.

i'm about to throw our echelon bike out the window. ANything that relies on an app to show basic information is a RIDICULOUS idea, such a scam. Without the app you cannot even tell what resistance you are on.

keep it simple people.

I read that a patch was being pushed out to Peleton users whereby access to run apps like Netflix was removed.

I much prefer biking outside but now my MTB is on the trainer. I install a spare 27" TV in front of it and watch what I want or just tune to the music channels.

I’ve read the only way to put Netflix on was to “jailbreak it”. I don’t care so much for the classes. I want something to ride when I’m watching tv. Just didn’t want the bike in my living room for aesthetic purposes. I can put a small cheap TV in my workout room. Problem solved. I ate so much yesterday I purchased the bike this morning

It’s not about the classes, after all, but about the time that you are ready to dedicate to the workout. No tool will make you exercise or motivate you to do something more than you can motivate yourself.

Was riding my bike to work, was great till they stripped the road and then I was laid off. Start at new place next week on other side of town so I'll probably do the same.

The other half has one and uses it on the regular. She loves it. She does not pay their rip off expensive monthly fee, though

I've had exercise bikes and used them sporadically. I was a running enthusiast for most of my life but as I get older my knees no longer appreciate it. My wife is in the same boat, we both miss running and lost much of our fitness during over the last year or two. We have moved to the country and enjoy walking here but it's not enough. I looked at Peloton and few other bikes. I ended up getting us a water rower in January. It's set up in our TV room, I'd say we use it 5 times a week each but it's probably 4 as often as 5. I really enjoy the workout, no sore joints, it's not just legs cardio, very low impact you get good cardio, upper and lower body. Sometimes I watch a tv show or just put on the headphones. I think its a great option if you are considering a machine. You can get them with an iPad or screen to use motivational videos but that isn't our thing. We got one that folds up for storage.
