I have a feeling this may be the end of remote start on those cool mornings.

States will not have jurisdiction here; this is a NHTSA call. Hopefully BMW will enable this in a future update. I had it coded on my 540 and it was very cool. The lights on my 2021 M550 are basically static without the adaptive enabled.

For those with Bimmercode experience, can you code this on using it?

No it you need to remove the 5AP option code that basically tells the module to not use adaptive headlights. Code my bummer will remove it for $100

No, and not likely based on my query to them. First, they don't currently program the module that actually enables it, and second, they don't have the ability (currently) to remove the software module that tells the processor to ignore the stuff, regardless of what those other software switches try to tell it...they're just ignored at a higher level.

Each OTA update has the possibility to reset the logic back to factory spec, so if you DO code it, you may need to redo that with each OTA update...while that's not an absolute, the relevant module is often a target for some of the OTA updates, and then the whole module gets updated to factory. As a result, if you pay someone to do it, you MAY need to repay them each time you get an OTA update. That's the main reason why I've not done it. I also haven't been driving at night where they would be more useful. Otherwise, I'd spend the money.

if you use remote engine start, by default it runs the engine for 15 minutes and shuts it off if you don't get in and intervene.

I know it can be coded because someone from the forums (who doesn't seem to be around anymore) did it remotely on my prior 540. Was just hoping Bimmercode could do it as, with OTA updates now, seems more likely the change would be overwritten by an update. Oh well.

Everyone is saying and has known for years this can be coded. It just cannot be coded with BimmerCode as it can't FA/VO code, which is what they were asking.

Well, just read a bit more on this, and while the law allows it, it gives the regulation agency two years to figure out the testing and certification testing of individual systems! So, it could take up to 2-years to actually get implemented legally...this is somewhat of a disappointment.

...well at this point I'm just going to make my brain forget anything about this for 5 years. Then maybe we'll have something.

Would bmw proactively decode adaptive headlights in the US?
