Air release sound - M50i w/ air suspension
Either I have never noticed this or this is a new thing. Several times recently I have heard what sounds like a pop-off air release type sound. First several times I was driving and just dismissed it. Tonight I was sitting still and it was a clear air release sound coming from the front left. To test it, I lowered the air suspension while sitting still and raised it back up and it happened again. It sounds like a tire being punctured or something but I know it has something to do with the air suspension. Its a very quick sound that lasts maybe 1 second.
Is this normal and I've just never heard it for the first time? |

2020. Nothing happens though…. No change while driving. Car doesn’t change levels at all etc. It happened while the car was raising but it raised totally normally even with the noise. If it weren’t for the sound itself you would think everything was normal.

my 3YO 45e doesn’t do this at all. from what I’ve read here and online, it’s a known symptom that the bag or compressor could be going.

If it sounds like it's bleeding off excess air, mine does it sometimes too, but so has every car I've had with air suspension.
Mine seems to do it more when parked on my inclined driveway than when it's on level ground.
