I'm of the opinion that it's not intentional as well. It doesn't bother me though. I believe the leather credit was due to sensatec not being available initially, but I'm content considering the $1450 credit as an apology for the wrinkles.

Let's hope as Sensatec becomes available and the $1450 leather credit goes away, that BMW quality control gets this taken care of, and production with wrinkles goes away as well.

Just wanted to say hello, this is my first post here as I am currently a 2017 Audi Q7 Prestige owner coming over from the Audiworld forum but with the release of the New X5 my interest in BMW has skyrocketed.
I was not planning on beating a dead horse with my first post, so apologize up front about that , but just had to report that the loaded up X5 50i at the LA Auto show with the extended brown merino leather had NO seat wrinkles in the back. They were smooth as can be. Given that every pic I have seen online from dealers etc has had the wrinkles, I do belive it is by design. My point for this post is given how many people have sat in a “show car” like this one at the LA auto show, I have a feeling wrinkles will dissipate over time /use. Hopefully if that is the case, those with concern might ease a bit. |

Hmm I am not sure I agree with the logic - the show car needs to be perfect, whereas the mass manufactured appear to have these minor irritants. I fall into the "it doesn't bother me too much" category, but do think it is a little sh*t and cannot believe it is by design. Only time will tell though!

Was just chatting w my CA who said the reason for the looser leather is that the American market complained the seats were too firm, so the modified the leather tightness. Thanks America hard a$$es😎🤣

I can see this as reasonable logic - the seats were much softer than those of current X6. But still, as has been said before, the fact that some are more pronounced than others and that the motor show seats were smooth suggests this is nonsense. (Although maybe European's are slightly less wrinkled on account of our [in some cases] lighter frames?)

Saw this picture online of a car in a local dealer's inventory. December build so doesn't look like anything is changing. Passenger side is probably one of the worst I have seen as far as wrinkles.

The seats are more comfortable than my X6. Since I never sit back there I did not notice how hard they were until this all started. I can say that everyone that has sat in the backseat has commented on how comfortable the new seats are over the old car.
Seems that europeans are not as sensitive to hard seats as us tender Americans are. I like the seats because my passengers like them. |

I think you missed my intended sarcasm in that post, the wrinkly seat drama is getting a bit much and no different than in the F15.
