I doubt vw/audi would go backward in that way. Since they learned their lesson with the g60 corrado theyve been turbo and havent looked back.

Theyve had major success with the 1.8t and 2.0t since the aftermarket loves them so much and they are economical. Id say they stick with that if I was putting money on the table.

Yeah, they'll have turbos but they'll have some very tricky software to keep people from overriding their ecu and blowing the engines. Audi had a heck of time with warranted fixes due to turbo tampering.
