I got the same OTA S/W update today - 03/2023.50 today here in Australia, downloaded to phone, phone to car, and immediate upgrade in car. It went very smoothly, and surprisingly fast compared to some of the past OTA updates.

I haven't driven much with it yet, anyone notice any real changes?

There's been no feature changes on non-LCI cars since about 7/2022. Everything since has been for LCI or anything with OS8.

Maybe true, but there have been some bug fixes, and improvements to the active driving to make it smoother, plus the bug to fix the potential missed shutdown to the transmission that can drain your 12vdc battery.

Not every module every time is reprogrammed...so, not unusual at all IMHO.

Being in Canada, and with BMW's past tendency to release OTAs roughly using an n-1 methodology - OTA major version always seemed to be at least one version behind dealer software - I was very surprised to receive a notification from MyBMW that 03/2023.50 was being downloaded.

So a couple of thoughts fwiw, as it pertains to my G05 ....
- this is now my 6th successful OTA (list of versions is in my signature)
- this is the first time I've had 3 consecutive available OTAs downloaded & installed (7/2022 then 11/2022 then 3/2023)
- this is the first time that the OTA was the same major version as the dealer software (03/2023.xx) although I know dealer has .53 vs .50 for OTA
- the size of the download seemed to be smaller than previous updates, while the download/upload process seemed to be much faster

I suspect BMW has gotten to a point where they feel that BMW OS 7 is stable enough that they no longer need to delay updates. Perhaps they also feel like they've addressed the install issues that others have had with 07/2022 + 11/2022 (I personally had no issues).

My warranty is up in about 6 months, so now I'm seriously asking myself if its time to say enough is enough and stop installing OTAs, especially since we will likely not see any more OS 7 enhancements. I realize that some future component repair/replacement may require a software update but I'll deal with it when, & if, it happens.

I heard that BimmerCode and coding is not available anymore after 03/2023 update. Is this true?

As far as I know that is not true. ASS can't be coded off but have not heard of any other problems.

Coding is still available on 03/2023 for OS 7 vehicles. Hard to say what will change in future updates but it would be wise to research before jumping to apply an update as soon as it's released. Seems the focus is locking down newer vehicles, not older models. The LCI vehicles with OS 8+ are not able to be coded due to requirement for BMW backend connection for secure coding.

I have coded TLA country , all was factory but not for this country, it was done by updating C_SLA_UCC_Land_aktiv and C_SLA_aUCC_Land_aktiv inSAS3 and
C_SLA_UCC_Land_aktiv in DSC to FFFFFFFF. After update to 03/20233 is no more C_SLA_aUCC_Land_aktiv inSAS3. But after update i did not code this as this was still coded, but lost indication of the green light, red is ok but when chnge to green then is not recognised

According to Bimmercode there are issues regarding programming of some ECUs. I was specifically asking them about ASS. Frankly, with Bimmercode's answer to my emails I'm still not sure if disabling ASS will work or not if I update to 03/2023.xx. See below for the email communication from Bimmercode.

It would be interesting to see if any owners who have a vehicle without the mild hybrid engine are able to code Auto Start/Stop "OFF" after updating to 03/2023.xx.

ASS will most certainly be disabled with the 03/2023.xx software update, even though we could not test the whole variety of engine-software combinations. Hence, there might be some variability in the operation, but is very unlikely.

I have the B58 inline 6 engine WITHOUT the mild hybrid electric motor. Is ASS affected on iDrive 03/2023.xx for that engine?

Hi,
ASS deactivation may be a problem depending on the engine. Recent changes by BMW cause the coding to not have any effect unfortunately.

Glad I came to check before updating. I don't like to recode after updates and if ASS feature will not work, then no thanks.

Exactly my point. My service appointment is this Tuesday and originally they were going to perform an update to 03/2023.xx. However, after hearing what Bimmercode said I've decided to cancel the update until I hear from others that have the non hybrid engine and have tried to code ASS off with Bimmercode. Obviously, after reading Bimmercode's email, I'm even more confused after getting their response.

I wish I had known that stop/start disable coding doesn't work anymore. I would never have done the update. It is (was) my favorite code.

I hope Bimmercode figures out a way to make it work again.

At least I can still disable it with the push button on the console. I'm surprised BMW hasn't turned that off... maybe in the next release? LOL.

So, can you confirm that you've done the update to 03/2023.xx and you've tried to code ASS off with Bimmercode and it didn't work? If so, can you confirm that you have the ASS button and you don't have the mild hybrid engine? I'm just trying to get the facts straight after the confusing email I got from Bimmercode before I take my vehicle in for service.

Even if you can't code ASS off, have you tried to code Sport Individual as the default drive mode? Since sport doesn't use ASS, it might accomplish the same thing.

That is correct. I have the ASS button on the console. I do not have the mild hybrid engine. The software update was to 03/3023. Bimmercode has no effect on the ASS function any longer. The button still works, but it no longer remembers the last setting.

Anyone know how to roll back a software update?

That just SUCKS! I just had mine serviced today and told them NOT to update iDrive. I'm glad I didn't have them do the update after hearing about all the coding issues. My car is stuck waiting to install 11/2022.60.

I suspect BMW is attempting to disable the ability to code anything without communicating with the head server. That way they can start charging for subscription based services like Tesla does. It may become next to impossible to code much of anything with Bimmercode in the future if they continue down this path.

Yes, I am happy to report that this works perfectly!

Good idea!

Got the 03/2023.50 update OTA on my X7 today. Bimmer code seems to work for some things and not others. ASS doesn't work anymore and the seat belt chime disable doesn't work anymore.
Some things still work like M logo, Alpina dash, 5 blink turn signal and B&W stereo equalizations.
Hope Bimmercode can get it figured out and get ASS working again. That's my biggest dislike.
For now, I guess I have to code it to sport individual mode.
