Damn. I got tboned on my 328 f30 by a red light runner.
Don’t settle for a low insurance payout if they total it. I got 4k more by arguing. They have the match tbe local prices of a car with the same or similar specs as yours. They usually don’t cover custom parts. Also look into an accident attorney. You could be fine now but some pain doesn’t show up til later (like for me). If you go this route, if the insurance company asks if you’re injured tell them that you have an accident attorney and do not want to answer any questions regarding that. Good luck bro I’m sorry that happened. It fucking sucks |

Ooof Sorry this happened to you. Sucks that you were only a week away from trade in but glad you're safe though, that's all that matters.

First, hopefully you are ok. If the car is leased, have it repaired by an authorized BMW shop and just return it to BMW (if not totaled).
If you own the car, get an attorney as sue for Diminished Value, as the car will forever branded by the Carfax. You will need an attorney to do that. |

As long as you are OK, nothing else really matters.
Where in NJ did it happen? Lease equity is mostly non-existent these days. That was sometimes the case a year or two ago, not much anymore, and with the new car incentives BMW is offering across the board these days, the car almost certainly is worth less than the lease buyout. I'm no expert, but does not look like a total. |

Accident was actually in NY getting off the tappan zee. I agree probably not totalled but can see.some rear frame damage and the trunk mechanism got all messed up...we'll see if the convertible top is out of whack too. Could add up.
Actually had a deal to trade it early with a little bit of equity...not much though. It had low mileage. |

By the way, if anyone is curious how a rear-end turns into any easy total.
At the BMW collision center, some of the biggest line items: Lower panel carbon fiber - 5k (looks like you can find these online for about 4k...so this isn't even that nuts) Two rear sensors plus a bumper cover that also has a sensor - each 1k. Muffler is 2500 Plus rear supports and a new trunk lid plus tons of smaller parts. Plus 100+ hours of estimate labor...you can do the math there. |
