Did you use just the blue fluid or something special?

just some rain-x all season stuff I never use the OEM fluid because it generally doesn't perform that well, rain-x is hit or miss I just get what's at the store when I go

Low windshield fluid message

Filled up fluid first time. Low message stays on. Front jets work well.
Rear - no fluid coming out. Is it a sensor issue ? Anyone having same issue ?

Is it frozen? Could be if the fluid doesn’t have enough alcohol. I haven’t had that happen on my X5 (yet) but have had issues in the past with other cars. I use -35F wiper fluid so it won’t freeze most of the time.

The owner's manual specifically warns against using any windshield washer fluids that contain silicone. From my understanding RainX contains silicone.

There's another thread somewhere that talks about all the people who've gotten the "Low Washer Fluid" message after using RainX in the washer fluid reservoir.

I have no idea why BMW has an issue with the RainX fluid. I've been using it for years in all of my Toyota vehicles and I've never had a problem yet.

So, your mileage may vary but I'm staying away from RainX on the BMW. I've also heard that if you do use RainX and get the Low Washer Fluid warning that you can flush the system out with the BMW fluid and it will eventually fix the "Low Washer Fluid" warning light.

Again, your mileage may very but I've decided to stay away from RainX on my BMW.

This is because there are 2 electrodes in the reservoir tank. When fluid is present it will complete the circuit, when the fluid is low then the circuit is broken. The silicon will dull or nullify the sensors. It's hit or miss and really car dependent. BMW should really update the software to allow for lower voltage drop or resistance between the electrodes.

Edit: I've been using the orange rain-x for 5 years in my 3 series without issue. I plan on using them in my x5 and wife's x3.

Interesting discussion regarding Rain X and low level detection circuitry.

But I am just stopping by to state I believe the tank is actually of infinite capacity — I've been on the originally supplies windshield washer since delivery in early May 2019 and there seems to be no indication of running out. Yap, that statement means I will run out tonight ...

Could your dealer be sneakily topping you off when you're in for software updates or something?

On the f06 6series...the capacity of the washer fluid is listed in the owners manual (see below). But it appears this info may not always be printed in all owners manuals.

When comparing the shape/size of the f06's washer fluid reservoir to that of the g05 X5's reservoir...they appear to be of similar capacity. If they are, then the f06 washer fluid capacity is a little over a gallon (5.3 quarts/5 liters). I believe the minimum capacity is about 1 liter...that's when the low washer fluid warning appears....so adding around a gallon of washer fluid would probably be an appropriate "top up" amount.

Spoke to dealer. Told me to drain rain x . Did just that. Replaced with bmw washer, problem gone. Yes, manual says do n0t add products with silicone. Never thought about reading the ingredients on washer fluid...
