Shiny Tires

Anyone else love the look of high gloss, shiny, no sling wheels that last long? I sure do! All I use is Lysol wipes on the rims in between foam cannon washes and dress the tires with Chemical Guys tire gel. Any other tips, tricks, products, don't do recommendations?

… brake dust can hide copious amounts of curb rash, just saying... I dunno why all the hate

I strategically use that lovely cocoa powder to keep my OCD from making me taking these to the alloy repair fellow after every track day.

That said, those are some gorgeous rims and Lysol wipes… interesting, didn't think of those before. Hope there's no chemicals in it that would damage the clear coat?

Yeah...not sure about potential clear coat damage. Hopefully someone on here knows or has experience. I had gloss black rims on my FPace and used the same approach for 3+ years with no clear coat issues. After using the wipes, I dry with microfiber rags.

Lysol wipes! That's a first for me. How many do you need to use to get them clean? If you're using them between foam cannon washes, whatever chemicals you're putting on the wheels would only be there for a very short time, doubt it'd have any significant impact even if there were chemicals which shouldn't touch clear coat?

I just do it the old fashioned way - wheel brushes of various sizes and microfibre with good ol' wheel cleaner.

Here's a photo of an impromptu dirt track the day after I gave it a good wash

I never let my vehicles get too dirty so I'm mostly doing touch up work in between washes so it's only 2 squares per rim. I keep an 80 pack in the trunk. Almost never drive on dirt unless unavoidable.

I personally prefer non shiny tires. I like Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel.

Shiny/glossy tires are still a thing?

Is this 1987?

Seems to be.
Also seems like adding dark tint to the front door windows is still a popular 1980's thing.

Front window dark tint makes sense given that the rears are already dark. And the shiny tires look good with the Shadowline trim.

Why take a shower every day?

Why make your bed?

Why wake up?

It's an SAV - if we had more dirt tracks here I'd take it on them some more. It's not made for off-roading, but dirt tracks certainly!

I've been use the Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing for many years. I think it's just the right shine.

While I certainly appreciate anything clean, I prefer a more natural and balanced look and have tried several tire dressings over the years but keep coming back to this...Makes the tires look like they are new but without the gloss shine. A little goes a long way

Over the years I've shifted to prefer a more satin tire look. Dark enough to look like a new tire without looking cheesy like I just came out of a cheap car wash after they slabbed a gallon of oil into your tires which will sling all over the side of the car.

Tire dressing is a must if the weather permits. Makes the car look so much nicer than your average BMW.
