I just got an email last night from BMW of Seattle that mine had been delivered to the dealership. The last time I called BMW genius was on Tuesday and it still hadn't arrived in Renton, so the turnaround was quick.

Yes to Portland. The eta was very conservative (for a 3hr distance) of 12/15, but it actually arrived at the dealer yesterday afternoon! Hoping to pickup today or tomorrow.

Congrats to you and Mothetgoo.

If mine takes 9 days after the ETA to Renton of 12/22 I am gonna be in a full panic sweat mode...need to buy it by 12/31 and that will be pushing it to the very edge...

So how long did it take to get to Portland after "dispatched from factory"? Mine left a couple days ago an need to take delivery before year end.

Finally got the paperwork signed and should hopefully have it on a transport in a couple of days (ordered from East Coast dealer). May be here before Christmas if I'm lucky, but think 2020 still has a few tricks left up its sleeve.

Getting so close now....
Finally took delivery of my new 2021 X5 45e yesterday! It sat at the CA dealership longer than expected due to some paperwork issues, but left CA on 12/10 and arrived in WA on 12/14. Pics to follow once I get it all cleaned up...

Just curious what your full timeline was? Also, did yours arrive in Renton when it was scheduled to?

For those who took delivery, does the car come with the Level II charger that you can plug into the "dryer" 220V outlet?

Thank you

No, only comes with a level 1 charger for 110v regular outlet. You'll want to get a level 2 if you want to be able to fully charge overnight. Since our 45e's only charge at 3.7kWh max, a 16a level 2 charger is all you really need and is fairly inexpensive (higher amp level 2 chargers will work of course, but won't charge the 45e any faster).

Dang, wish I would have known about that 16a limitation before I installed the 40a charger.

In that case, the commercial charging stations cannot charge the car any faster either?

That is correct.

And it can't handle fast chargers either.

Public charging is only ok when you can leave it long enough for some charge or when charging gives you a nice well located free parking spot

So what is the fastest charge time one can reasonably expect with this limitation?

I think the US based 45e owners will have more accurate info on that because of the different battery capacity. I presume it is around 5-6 hours on a 16 A charger?

Using math to help calculate charge times:

1. 24kWh battery 100% empty / 3.7kWh max charge rate = ~6.5 hrs
2. 21kWh usable battery 100% empty / 3.7kWh = ~5.67 hrs

From what I've read online, assuming #2 above is the more likely of what most people will experience...

Usable battery capacity in the US is lower isn't it?

Hmm, yes it appears you're correct based on this article: https://www.electrive.com/2020/06/14...in-the-states/

21.6kWh usable capacity in Europe = ~5.8hrs
17.06kWh usable capacity in US = ~4.6hrs

Would be nice to understand why such a big variance in usable capacity...

There is quite a long thread on this subject. But no conclusion why it is lower.

1. Europe has EV only city centers and tighter emissions regulations... more battery means greater ability to operate in these zones and lower overall pollution emitted due to less ICE use.

2. Possible longevity of system. Same battery with a lower capacity profile may extend the life of the battery pack. That said, increasing the number of charge cycles to achieve the same sum total range may have the opposite effect.

3. Possible compensating for higher power draw due to options not available in the US.
