Either you cry or you laugh ... not a cryer. In these times i find humor is actually a good thing.

The backyard at the cottage is quite steep so the driveway is below the street. I have trees that are above the driveway. A dead tree fell, although it was not a particularly windy day, on my car and that of my GF. Her car was totalled and mine has C$35,000 worth of damage .. so far. We have three cutters coming in to clean that portion of the land.

That piece of wood is actually sticking in 2 feet in the car. My biggest concern is whether I will see my car before xmas. Driving a Mitsubishi RVR meanwhile. Not the same thing!!!

Wild, but glad to read no one was injured... the car and trees can be replaced but people cannot. Look on the bright side... you get a new car and new landscape.

That’s why i can be humorous about the whole thing. Although the ar my GF will get doesn’t excite me all that much and it seems i will be lucky to see my car again before 2021

Good choice, I like how subtle it is.

I got the open pore wood finish, too. Mine is on the inside, though.

P.S. Glad to hear no one got hurt!

I do not like this individual wood option one bit and definitely wouldn't spec a car with it.

Good luck getting it fixed quickly

Update

So talked to my dealer who is repairing the car. It seems we are now at C$40,000 worth of damages (added the full back seat. Chards of glass cut the leather).

Bad news: a lot of parts are back order, so won’t see my beast until 2021. Bummer! It’s already been a month!

Seems at this rate the insurance company would total the car. Surely $40k Canadian is a lot more than half the current value.

Update

So it seems that parts are still backorder. No end in sight and now my insurance company has contacted the dealer to let them know they will stop paying the courtesy car on Saturday.

My dealer says this makes no sense and will contact the insurance company. My insurance broker agrees this makes no sense.

Fingers crossed, cause otherwise need to find a Plan B has my gf has not replaced her car yet and was not intending to do so until the Spring

It is normal that the insurance company has a limit on how many days they cover providing a loaner car. You need to review your policy to see what it says but if i had to guess, they covered a month as per your agreement as i think that is the usual standard number of days most policies will have.

Did you talk to the dealership about them providing you a free loaner given that the wait is beyond what you would consider "normal"?

Good luck and i hope that this all works out for you in the end.

40,000 CAD for some body panels and glass?

Man...body shops are some of the biggest rackets in all of dirty business.

MY GF's 2015 X6 was rear ended and she needed a new trunk and bumper. $18000- 1/5 the price of the car for 2 things. Its insane.

Yep and i just learned that my dealership, where i have been a client since 2008, are stepping up and covering the cost of the courtesy car (they have outsourced to Enterprise) until my car is ready.

Also, parts are starting to trickle in ... there might just be some light at the end of the tunnel!

Not what I expected to read under this heading.
Good to hear that everyone is ok. Hoping for you and your beast to reunite before New Years.
