Is the phone priority (which phone connects) tied to profile or not?
One genius said it is not tied to profiles, but that would be so dumb.
What we want to have happen is that when my wife gets in the car to drive (and I am there too), and the profile switches to hers due to her keyfob, her phone should be top priority for mobile connection. When I get in to drive (and she is there too), using my profile, my phone should be the priority and connect before hers. Profile switching works fine. No issue there. But it looks like whatever priority setting we set, applies in both profiles. I put my phone as top priority in my profile, then she gets in using her profile, we find that my phone shows as top priority. Is this how it is with you all too? Do you have to manually switch mobile connection every time you switch drivers if both phones are present? |

I'm really trying to figure this out myself right now. It seems that it's working so poorly unless I'm doing something wrong here.
When my wife gets into the car with her key and phone and me not present it cannot even connect to CarPlay on her phone automatically. Only one phone can be associated with CarPlay at any given time it seems, regardless of whether different key fobs/profiles are used. If you share the car, you are constantly manually connecting CarPlay for your profile. Sooo dumb. |

I know in our X5
It ALWAYS picks the wrong phone, every single time We have 5 phones added, and without fail, it always picks the wrong one Zero logic behind which one it picks If I'm driving it picks my wife's phone If I'm not driving and my son is, it picks my phone Or if I'm driving it picks my work phone not my personal phone

Are you both carrying your keys when you're in the car? I haven't paid much attention to which phone has priority but I did find out that BMW "fixed" a "flaw" where instead of whos key is closest to the drivers door is the profile selected, it's now whos key is closest to the car when ANY door is opened (ok, except the trunk). Sooo friggin annoying!
My GF usually makes it to the passenger door before I get to the drivers door so the car happily says hello to her and moves everything to her setting even though she's not the one driving. Apparently it was to allow a driver to put something containing their key on a seat other than the drivers one. I know it's 1st world problems, but it's just one more step of switching profiles before we can drive off. |
