I've heard that you have to drive around for 25 minutes in sport mode and it will only work to flip it when its already open. you cant open it just lock the state.

Search the forums. There are a few different ways to accomplish this.

It is not possible to do it with BimmerLink. All that does is temporarily open the flap while it is running. Once you shut down and and restart the flap will be closed. People use BimmerLink to open the flap and then either pull the fuse or disconnect the wire. It is not possible to do it with coding as far as I have seen.

You are correct, BimmerLink only allows opening and closing while the app is running. Once the app is closed/disconnected the vehicle computer takes back control of the flap. So if you wanted it open all the time you would use BimmerLink to open it then pull the fuse or disconnect the cable running to the exhaust itself. |

Do what you want, but consider these three things:
- opening the flap constantly will make the idle sound louder - opening the flap will mean the turbo will take longer to spool up, so less power off the line, i.e., a slight delay. It is normally only opened when there's enough exhaust gas velocity to fully spin the turbos and lets the engine breath better at higher RPM. - opening the flap will slow the engine warmup, decreasing efficiency until warmed up. |
