Remote Start not working - my fix

The backstory and the breakage--
A couple of weeks ago, I bought and installed IconicSounds. After a few days, I hated it and contacted ConnectedDrive support on how to uninstall it. They responded that they'd credit me back for the purchase and that an OTA update would be available at some point by checking under apps and system update.

So I got the update, and subsequently installed it.

The symptoms--
1. Some of the bimmercode coding that I had done was reset with the OTA update (tire temp, key fob close the hatch, etc).
2. Also, I noticed that remote start from the key fob was not working. When you press the BMW roundel three times, the car starts remotely from your fob.

My fix--
I went through all of the "car" "settings", in particular the fob settings and didn't really find anything for keyfob/remote. But I did find under climate and precondition - an option for "remote engine start" with a check box for "starting engine for clim. control" <<see attached image>>. So I checked it, shut down the car, stepped outside and locked it, then pressed the BMW roundel on the remote three times, and it worked.

So it appeared that the OTA update removed some items I had coded and unchecked some of the options I had selected, one being the remote start.

Yes, iDrive updates will wipe out coding done for any ECU that was updated. The climate setting is reset for each update also.

nothing broke.

as mentioned, Remote Start is disabled after a software update. it’s common and mentioned in software update release notes.

it’s prudent to go through all your settings after every software update because of the many potential resets.

I just updated to 11/2022, and my seat memories were wiped. like you, my BimmerCodes were wiped (expected)
