Unhappy Door lock switch pushed into door panel.

Has anyone else experienced this? My X5 is only 3 months old so I am a little surprised that the button caved in like this. It's still operational it just looks ghetto. I was contemplating trying to fix it myself but I am not sure I want to tackle it.

It may not have been fully snapped into place. If you try to fix it yourself and break or scratch something in the process, you own the repair...let the dealer deal with it.

Definitely seconding everyone on here that's said let the dealer handle. I've regretted messing with stuff in brand new cars 100% of the time. They probably need to take the whole panel off to properly secure it so it doesn't keep happening.

BMW attention to detail has gone to shit ever since they started to be made in america.

Stuff like this, panel gaps, rattles.

These problems are riddled in entire X line. The funny part is, these problems are the exact things american cars are criticized for and now its bmw.

ever since? they opened the plant in 1994 and have been making all of the Xs since its inception at that factory. In addition, the Z3 and Z4 were at times assembled in Spartanburg.

While probably better now, the pandemic has caused a lot of absenteeism, and people filling into positions they may not normally have done, or done as much...while QA/QC should catch any obvious issue, sounds like this showed up after delivery. While annoying, that's what the warranty is for...you may hope you never need it, but it's there for this type of reason.

I've experienced none of these problems in my X vehicles. I did have some issues with my Munich built 3 series, however.

Door card will need to come off in order to put door lock switch in place.
BMW door card clips are supposedly 1 off use (stupid design) so you may need to buy new door card clips when putting the door card back.

We have the same issue. 2020 330i from Germany. Not under warranty. Happened right after the warranty expired! Yeah, I really don't want to spend +$500 to fix it! Will wait until and have my mechanic friend look at it and see what he thinks.

100% let the dealer fix this for you, it's a easy fix for them.

Here is a link to remove the panel, but it's an older model.

There’s lots of g05 door panel removal videos

My advice when doing this sort of work is:

1. Buy the proper tools required to do the work
2. Take your time, exercise your patience, take breaks if you get frustrated
3. Line the floor below the door with towels in case you drop something

Thank you! That is a very helpful video. It's the same year as our vehicle and that really helps.

Funny that we’ve had 3 X5s and and X6, and no real problems with any of them. Fit, finish up to Mercedes “bank vault” standards.

New X5 50e absolutely up to those same standards.
