Looking at a high milage x5 45e (warranty options) and inspections

Hey Team

I hope all is well

been trying to buy a used or cpo 45e for 3 or so months now

not in a rush as we will sell our truck after we get the x5.

I have missed out on a couple. As I keep going away for work and im looking a specific spec

Any paint but white

Interior black or brown

M sport package

Drivers assist package.

Parking assist package

Tow hitch

being so picky on what I want they don't pop up that often (many the m sporty with tow combo)

had one come up cross state i can get shipped to me

2021 68k miles.

what are the best extended warranty options? im in California i know that rules out some places.

car is at a chevy dealership

use a website like lemonsquad.com to look at it

or just chill and keep waiting for something local

Your best extended warranty would be none but if for some reason you feel you need one then you would have to go aftermarket since the original new vehicle warranty has expired.

As far as that vehicle is concerned I would skip it and wait until something better comes along.

Why are you looking to get a 45e? Have you run the numbers to see if your operating costs will be more or less than a 40i?

thank you for the message

wife's nanny passed away and the money in her will is left from her daughter (wife's mom) but wants use some of it (no more then like 50 to 60k is what we are told )to buy us a family suv but we will have to pay for all the gas and insurance and all that jazz once we get the car. we drive alot 20 to 30k miles a year. work is 36 miles. where we live its 10 to 20 miles to get to anything when you leave the house

warranty would be bought for us also

I get free charging at work and our house is on EV charging rates for our Polestar 2.

also I just wanted the extra power and we tow a horse trailer so more weight and more torque might help ?

Makes sense, just wanted to check as it seems many folks assume EV driving would be less expensive until they see what the actual costs are.

Good luck on your search.

It think the key advantage of 45e in this case is free charging at work. So 72miles round trip home-office commute, ~ half is free in idea case. The reality maybe when people are back to office, charging stalls are easily occupied. In both of mine and wife's company, we must arrive office by 8:45am, no charging stalls are available after that. This is true for Tue, Wed, Thu. We think we get free charging, but we don't always. Hopefully this isn't the case for you.

As for the 45e you are looking at, do you have a way to ask for cardata report? The information I am looking for is HVB capacity. New 45e should have 17kWh. Mine has 14K miles now, HVB is 15.5kWh. At 68K, I wonder what it is. 45e will average about 2mi/kWh, so after getting HVB state, you can also estimate EV range.

How big of a horse trailer? I don't know that I would be buying a short wheelbase vehicle like the X5 to tow a horse trailer, especially if its more than just around a farm.

great point about checking to see how much of the battery is left. i see mission has a way to unlock extra battery usage for $500

we are lucky as we had this same issue so they installed chargers at every park we have at work

it is a featherlight bummer pull 2 horse slant loader

its about 3000 lbs full loaded with tack. our horse is a small guy 850lbs. maybe 4800lbs max if we put a 2nd horse in but normally just my wife and her horse

trails we ride the most are about 2 miles away and the furthers it about. 15

You should have no problems with that.
