Is there a chance the new HK system is better than one 3 years older?

So I got my 2023 45e with the HK sound system. My (just traded in) 2021 45e was built in summer of 2020 also had the HK. This one is remarkably better in sound quality, and I've only used it an hour or so. Especially the low end. Is there a chance the components are improved even though I thought they are exactly the same?
