Hi all, wanted to connect with current X5 M60i owners on this thread for some thoughts and feedback. I have my eye on a 2024 "used" dealer car that is fully loaded. Was delivered to them back in November, used by an exec I guess for a brief period and went on their site about a month ago. Currently has about 960 miles. Despite the used tag they are asking MSRP from the sticker. Car is loaded with about $17k in options, hence my interest. Pics they have up on the site show use... either needs to be cleaned up/detailed or things like mats need to be replaced with new, or another example, the "no smoking" sticker needs to be removed, kind of a weak look from a presentation standpoint for these pics to be like that, IMO.
I went out to drive it yesterday and the sales guy called me 5 minutes before our scheduled meeting to tell me the car was mistakenly out on loan to a service client. He offered to put me in an X7 M60i to get a feel for the engine and then an X5 40i to get a feel for the size. Not ideal, but I was already there so I went ahead. I then sat in a 7 series in the showroom to hear the B&W sound system. So it all seems fine, I'm interested and ask him when I can see and drive the actual car. He tells me he'll bring it out to me same day or tomorrow. I said I'm too tied up with commitments and can do Saturday (4 days later). He then starts with the sales... says the M60i engine is not currently in production because all the demand right now is for the 50e, these cars are hard to find (not with the engine, but with the options, I checked) and - oddly - "people from Jersey" are going to be looking for this one. Sorry for the long winded post, here are the actual questions - 1) Any thoughts on what this "lightly" used car is actually worth? What could be a reasonable discount from MSRP? I told the sales guy I remember that line "soon as it drives off the lot" and in my mind I thought 10% would be fair. 2) Is the M60i actually having production issues and is that a legit reason for this dealer to stand their ground on price? 3) I have half a mind to just build a 50e (I know, wrong thread) and await delivery to coincide with my '21 X4 M40i coming off lease... am I crazy to jump over to that engine? |

1) I would say 8-10% would be reasonable as brokers were about 5% on custom orders in your region prior to the production cut back.
2) The production has been severely cut back but it is not due to the 50e's as those are very limited as well due to supply issues. We have not seen why the M60i has been reduced could be supply or something to do with the model year ending next month. 3) Whether you are crazy or not depends on your reason for wanting an M60i in the first place. If it is because you want a V8 then the 50e won't fill that want. If it is because you want a fast, luxury SUV that handles decently then the 50e likely will. There of course are currently issues with the 50e but hopefully those will get worked out soon. As mention, 50e's are very ,limited for this MY so you would have to wait and get a MY25.

The hooks in the back I usually wrap the handle of grocery bags around it a couple of times to keep them from flying around in the back. I can do about 3 at a time. I do miss the netting and elastic strap my MY14 F15 had. They'll never put things like that back...

paul_s I wouldn’t touch a 50e right now. I’ve had my M60i for 5 1/2 months and 7500 miles and it is magnificent. As for an expected discount, make an offer to buy it right now at whatever discount % you can live with and see what happens. Your SA is wrong about production of the V8 but we are in the midst of a model year changeover. If your 40i is coming off lease I’d order a ‘25 M60i. You can read the many threads here about the 50e issues. Good luck.

3.5 mos ago I was offered 8% off a demo M60i with 300+ miles. Based on advice on these boards, I asked for 10% off. They said no. I ordered locally from another dealer for 8% off, took delivery and have been enjoying my build for 6 weeks now. That demo is still for sale.
I would say buy the demo depending on the deal they give you, otherwise order to your desires, wait and then have a blast in your new ride. |

How so? What did the dealer say as a reason for your new order to not be possible?

Based on this brand new custom discount - I’d want this m60 at least 12% off. How many people who have the cash for a 110k m60 aren’t just going to order to their spec and would accept a slightly used version of a 110k car at msrp. That’s just a ridiculous proposition… at this price point the customer is in the drivers seat for this given car… they won’t find many buyers - the dealer driving that car was a selfish unwise business mistake… |

What? He said that you can not order an M60i? Of course you can order, maybe they closed MY 2024 but MY 2025 production is up in April, it will just take some time for it's production spot. That case sounds like the salesperson that you are dealing with only cares to get a high comission by sticking that used M60i at full price.
I would contact the dealer's sales manager directly for that used M60i, or buy another 2024 X5 through a brocker, maybe even order a 2025 if you are willing to wait 2 - 4 months. That is not that long considering how long it takes for other luxury brands SUV's: SQ8, Cayenne, R.R.S., etc. |

There are no allocations available is what he likely meant. They released about 15 for the entire country in February.
