I am impacted...but what exactly will be replaced? It say this:

"The Integrated Brake (IB) system will be replaced for free by an authorized BMW center which should take several hours."

What is included in this IB system? Am I getting new Rotors and Pads :-) ? or is it some kind of controller?

I read something saying it was a vacuum pump but that may have been speculation.

Edit: That was for something else. The faulty part is the Integrated Brake Module.

Contacted my dealer today about this IB System recall. As expected they stated that there is no fix yet, but they expect it will be a software update, not a change of the controller module. Not sure if the description on bmw site actually means software update: "The Integrated Brake (IB) system will be replaced for free by an authorized BMW center which should take several hours."

They are probably either just blowing smoke or confused. The recall documents say it is a bad part and list the part numbers.

Are we supposed to wait for our letter to come in the mail or can we proactively take this to the dealership? The reason I ask is because the recall website says, “ Status: Remedy Unavailable”. Which makes me believe they’re not ready and/or my local dealership might not know what is going on. Apparently this impacts 80k vehicles across several model platforms.

You need to wait.

No, only about half or so are effected by the recall. It all depends on the part that was used.

Mine is a September build and my VIN does not show up, so I concur with TB.

looks like its all of the LCI X7s from July 2022-Oct 2023. 30K units

and all of the X5s from im guessing start of LCI production till mid october.

their estimated failure rate is 1% so 800 out of the 80K total will fail.

not really till Mid October. Mine was manufacture in 2024 and is on the recall list.

It is a different recall as you are in Malaysia.

I checked with my SA and it is the same thing. But Malaysia just launched couple a of weeks ago and I am the few people here who have this car at the moment.

BMW provided me i7 as a courtesy car and as required overnight. Door-to-door service as they sent a driver to hand me the i7 and drove my X5 away.

I would say it would be highly unusual that they kept an old part lying around or had a new production run of bad ones and only used it country specific. If it is due to the same part maybe it is due to different recall rules/tolerances between the country. The last known use of a bad part for US vehicles was October 26, 2023 in the X1.

I would remove the first link, it has your actual VIN on it.

I don't post mine either but really not a big deal. VINs are usually published on dealer website so anyone could have probably grabbed it then if they wanted it.

Malaysia are way smaller in car market compare to US. I wont surprise if BMW ‘bully’ us by old stock 😂

You know what, Malaysia is yet to launch X2 or iX2. Will be somewhere around April / May this year. They only sold 15xxx number of BMW here a year.
