If they did not remove the sensor ( stealth hitch instructions say to reinstall) and it is still there when they program the hitch using ista it will automatically be disabled. You can re- enable it using bimmercode.

Since I have an X5, I did the "split door" one and it worked fine for me - it only opens the top latch which is how I have the car coded for the rear.
