Lightbulb 2 Connected Drive Logins on 1 Car

Is it possible to add the same VIN# to 2 different Connected Drive logins? Standard scenario... want 1 login for me, 1 for my wife.

I know I can log her in using my login/password but she'd like her own driver profile in iDrive and it seems you need to have another login for that to work properly. I've read the BMW Connected Drive FAQ () but the answer on this is still not 100% clear.. searched forums, doesn't seem like anyone posts a definitive answer or process on this either. Some folks seemed to just do it and it worked, other said it removed the car from their account when they added to another.. others said you need to modify the ESA to add the second Connect Drive account

I know I can just do it and see what happens.. but... everything with Connected Drive and the app is actually working beautifully right now and I'd prefer not to screw it up!!

So has anyone done it? If so, can you please share your steps?

Yes you can. Create another connected drive account online and link to your Vin. You'll need to authorize it on the car later. Then under profiles go to add and use the credentials from the new account you setup. Note, radio presets are based on the key not the profile. So whomever's key was last to lock/unlock etc will be what radio presets and a couple other things will be regardless of what profile you pic. That had me wasting some time before talking to the "Genius".

For my case , my profile logined, but it asks me re-enter user/pwd for connected every time I started car.
Guess another bug to be added to the countless list

I got it done same day I pick up the car. My wife has her own log in different then me. CA send her an email, all she did was sign up with bmw connected app and car show up automatically. Then she log in and link her key to her profile.

This happen to me this morning when I unlocked the car with my key card and did not put the card in the wireless charger and car detect my wife key in the car. If I did put my key card in the charge my profile should show up instead of guest. When you select your profile and the car detect your key there not needy to enter user/password.

Created connected drive account for wife, added VIN online - it says to enter the code sent to the vehicle - no code is ever sent to the vehicle... cannot confirm car. Car appears in Connected Drive app (iPhone) but also asks for code sent to the car - tried resending, not getting the code.

If you get the code issue then it isn't activate correctly, in my case that happened for about a day until they put through the paperwork at the dealer to activate the account and then it doesn't care about any code, just works.

Yes, I just checked and 1 email (my Connected Drive) and added all 3 cars. It's good for me because I can locate my family.

If it's prompting for login, I think you need to Link Profile to Key. It's somewhere under the profile settings.

That’s the really annoying part: my wife can sign in to her Connected Drive account on the X5 itself and add her profile/avatar to the car (appears in Driver Profiles) and we can link her profile to the key and assign a PIN#. That’s all good.

You might need to call your CA. There is a form that need to fill out with emergency contact info.

Old post but just to confirm, in the UK, a vehicle can only be associated with ONE connected drive account. They have had lots of requests by customers to allow multiple accounts - but nothing heard back as to whether this will change or not..

had the same problem and genius helped me over the phone:
first you need to add second user under your connected account USING computer. (cant be done from the phone!). It will ask for her email and password. Follow the steps.
After its all set up from the connected drive COMPUTER screen you can go with HER keys to the car and login in the car with her email/pswrd and create her profile. Will be associated with her keys.
And last set up an app on her phone.

Two emails and two profiles for my wife and I. I am the primary and she is the secondary on the BWM connected app web site. Both tied to our individual keys. Once both are connected with pins and passwords to the vehicle, they work independently based on whomever unlocked the car first.

Two phones/ 1 login

Hi all.
I am trying to add my phone to our car with his login information (mainly my husband drives it); he had to go out of town suddenly for work, so now I get to drive it for a few days.
I want to use all of the benefits of the app but am not sure if I'll be able to use his login to do so -- will I need an access code sent to his email or something like that? I just want to log in and be able to use all of the amazing benefits, mainly remote start because it was -5 here this morning.....

If you log in on your phone using your husband's user id and password, you will be fine. No code is sent or anything, as his account sounds like it is already set up.
