Preconditioning (via app) not getting car warm

I've been noticing recently when I use the app to precondition my 2022 45e that when I get in 15min later, the fan does seem to be on but it's not warm at all-- like it's not really turning the heat on it seems. What's the deal? When I hit precondition on the dashboard when I leave the car for a grocery run, it definitely keeps pumping out heat. Am I missing a setting? I swear this worked last winter...

this seems to occur during the colder months when preconditioning with heat is prevalent. last year, we recommended turning off preconditioning then turning it on again. the second time started to put out heat. try it and let us know

Alright, well that did seem to work--I turned it on/off/on from my app and now it's definitely working better. Thanks!

I came here to post the same thing. With both my X5 45e and 330e, about 10 to 20% of the time, preconditioning turns on the fan but not the heat. It's quite jarring to get into a car you expect to be warm but is instead 20 F, especially with a baby.

What do you mean by turning off and on preconditioning? Do you mean to precondition the car, interrupt preconditioning, and restart it?

Thank you.

You can disable it in iDrive. Forgot the exact menu, but I think it’s in advanced climate control settings.

On a side note, it may already be disabled. Software updates seem to disable this feature.

yes

turn preconditioning on

watch your vehicle avatar to see what it’s doing (blue waves = A/C, orange waves = heat, white waves = ventilation).

if it’s not doing what you think it should, i.e. cooling instead of heating, hit the preconditioning icon again to stop it.

after you get confirmation that it stopped, turn it on again.

Assume there is something similar for the e hybrid models as shown attached? Enable/disable pre-conditioning in iDrive?

If it’s disabled, preconditioning through the app still kind of works: it just enables only the fan, and no cooling or heating. At least on the non-hybrids.
