Highest mileage on 2024 50e and keeping the car beyond warranty
How many of you are planning to keep your 2024 50e beyond the warranty knowing the issues the car had?
Also, anyone who has crossed 20K/30K miles on the car and had issues that were minor or didn't reappear after it was serviced? |

based on what I have read here, you would have to be very risk-tolerant to own one of these out of warranty (unless the issues get resolved and they become more predictable/reliable)

Isn’t it too earth to tell? 50e is 2024, if you already bought, why not wait until warranty about to end and see how the car behaves

As a ‘24 50e owner with just under 7k miles, here’s my thinking:
As long as the vehicle continues to be issue free, I’ll keep it past the factory warranty date. My guess is I won’t keep it past 8 years as I don’t feel modern cars last that long. |

The most common issue we see so far is the battery coolant valve failure. From what we see, I assume the battery valve thing is kind of resolved - it is a stupid small component that is not that hard to be replaced anyway, and its failure is not catastrophic and will not strand you on the side of road.
Other than that, all other issues seems to be common with non-hybrid LCI version so far. |

It's too early to tell of course, but I started the thread hoping it will keep getting inputs from owners along the way as the 2024 model ages. |

Given the limited production we really won't get a good handle on the current issues until late summer or so.

We try to keep our cars a minimum of 8 years so we only have one payment at a time.
This is the rare case bc I hated my 4runner and couldn’t bare another winter of mountain trips in it. But we will pay both cars off next spring. I still plan to keep the X5 for 7-8 years. Last edited by mscot; 04-20-2024 at 02:55 PM.. |

I recently took delivery of mine. I have <100 miles but no CELs yet . I kept my last one (2012 X5) for 13 years. In my very limited experience so far I’m really loving this car. I’ve been complying with break in procedures but even then I can tell it’s very fast. I love the tech too. That said, I don’t see this as another 13 year hold. The technology is moving too fast and the next generation isn’t too far off. I expect the next gen m60e (I think that’s the rumored nomenclature) will be very tempting to me in its second or third year of production.

I have 20000 miles now.
Other than battery coolant issue, no other problems. No CEL came back after the replacement. I am planning to replace this car with next gen X5 PHEV on 2nd year.(By the time, this 50e would have around 80000 miles) |

I had mine since September 23
11k miles on it No real ( classic) issues but loads of software glitches, just feels something is not right. It’s unfair to the 50e as I think it’s possibly an LCI thing not a 50e thing. (Today)I feel I need to get out, it feels fragile and unpredictable due to all the software issues, it’s clearly a irrational assumption but never the less, I feel it’s needs to go. Plus now it’s settled down mpg not that great, longer journeys without electric charge pointless might as well have a 60i! The PHEV don’t charge that quickly either so unless you want a 4 hour Costa break it’s low 20s mpg! Looking now to change, back to ICE only I think, I give this to my wife as she does very little mileage. I read somewhere EU looking at the whole Real world mpg thing on PHEV’s finally the realisation they are not plugged in for every journey in fact some company owned ones are never plugged in, why would you if you can’t claim back the electric useage in your own house! So long answer but I don’t see how I will keep mine beyond warranty, ( assuming I pass the car to my wife) |

I lease and get a new X5 every 3 years. I too have been lucky. The promise of new solid state batteries is very exciting if they live up to the hype. We'll see. When my lease is up, I'll look around to see what's new and exciting and then decide how I want to proceed. It's possible I'll find the 50e replacement irresistible, or maybe not.
