Funny. These Euro journalists love to milk American stereotypes.

Are you actually upset? Because this was very clearly lighthearted fun and Mat clearly had fun doing these skits.

Lighten up bro, don’t make us Americans seem like we can’t make fun of ourselves. I was genuinely enthused throughout his review.

His first word is "funny" so I doubt he's upset...

Perception is reality. And mix that with British humor for the best delivery.

Good video, but was hoping for a more performance oriented take. Could have just gotten a base X5 for this video and it would have made no difference.

What a shitty list. If he actually put some effort into this it could've been a good video.

Haha. Hilarious. Love his reviews.

He is always like this. Typical British humor.

Carwow is a English site selling cars.

I think in general the objective is to make an entertaining review and trying to direct customers to their site.

It is not technically detailed review. Others do that better.

This is clearly ment to be entertaining not to make the best car review ever.

Another attempt at humor. FAIL. More ridiculous than funny. I agree he could have done this with any X5 or X6.

Yes that's part of the humor. He could even have done it with a mini. It is not about the car at all. And he is overacting off course. And ridiculizing the situation.

He does the same when driving in Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, .....

Or judging a car as bad if his water bottle doesn't fit in the door or if the glove compartment can't handle a bag of chips.

I wouldn't really chose a car based on his review. But they are funny to watch (if you don't take it personally). Maybe this one is funnier when you live at this side of the pond.

It's fairly obvious that this video was not intended to serve as an exhaustive teardown-photograph-measure-and-inventory-every-part effort. Two separate and unrelated accolades: to BMW for building X5M and to Mat for providing an entertaining experience.

Carwow - BMW X5M review - will it pass my 7 USA challenges?

X5 45e, the title of the post says it is a review of the X5M. It easily could have said

Absolutely, that is my point. It is not a real car review. He could even have done it on a horse.

But taking a big SUV with a big engine (in Europe, mid size in the US) to do the job might be part of the joke?

These engines are rare here in Europe. The taxes are huge. In some countries the tax is more than the price of the car. So only few people buy them. Maybe car loving Europeans like me envy you a bit for still being able to drive around in big V8's? If taxes were not so extremely high I would have bought a 50i and not a 45e.

I just his way of making a review and a typical condescending British humor.

I thought it was funny, esp. the terrible imitation of a cowboy accent.

If we wanted to make a "typically British" equivalent it would be a video that is much longer than eight minutes. That's because item one on the list would be, "Wait for teeth to rot."

Haha. And trying the drive a Range or Jaguar the rare moments when it's not being repaired in the garage while drinking thee with milk and trying to get out of the EU.
