I'll appreciate if you could please provide feedback on this 2021 X5 40i M Sport build with DHP. I made the post very detailed, perhaps someone else will benefit from this when they do their research.

I placed a very similar order on the X6 (picking it up tonight!). I’m also in Canada. I went with the Excellence Package because the price difference was fairly negligible considering the stand alone options I would have taken (very similar to yours).

Initially I had the exact same reaction as you, I did not want perforated leather (also have the extended merino) BUT I was told by the dealer that the seats come perforated whether I took the ventilated option or not. I doubted them and they called BMW Canada which confirmed. Apparently the ´comfort seats’ come perforated directly from manufacturer and no longer have a non perforated option if you do not take the ventilated seats. I mean, they could still be wrong about this, but I would suggest you really push your dealer to double and triple check if this is important to you.

Otherwise, I’m looking forward to giving the DHP a try. I didn’t get to test drive a model with it and reviews are fairly sparse.

Thank you Rodrick, congrats on your X6, very exciting . The perforation without the ventilated comfort seats is news to me. Thank you, I'll double check with the dealer. I also didn't get to try the DHP, but it seems whoever has this options likes it a lot; I am in it mainly for the active M differential. Please share your experience when you try it. I believe the experience on the X6 will be even better because of the low centre of gravity.

I am hearing from multiple SA that, starting with 2021 X5 and X6 40i models, BMW Canada has removed 8SL trailer hitch prewiring when DHP is ordered . Could you please check if you have received this option?

I didn’t order the trailer hitch. Will give you my thoughts on the DHP as soon as I get some miles (kilometers) on it. :-). Getting ppf applied on the front end and the car ceramic coated this weekend, so may not get a proper drive in before next week.

Let me know on the perforated seats -curious to see if my dealer was right.

pretty sure you can't get a trailer hitch with DHP. DHP makes a big difference when maneuvering around cramped cities like new york. it makes a difference when parking in super tight spaces or making not very legal U turns. around here we're supposed to make broken U turns, or "K turns", but when you got 4 wheel steering it's tempting to break the rules.

otherwise you won't notice the difference. at least i didn't.

Don't get the rear seat entertainment package. It's going to quickly get outdated, especially since you intend on keeping this vehicle for a good long while. Instead just get two tablet holder plug in things from BMW and stick it at the back of each seat and plug in an ipad. I would instead spend that money on the B&W sound system. that'll never, ever get outdated and give you years of enjoyment.
