Hey all,
Anyone else get the recall notice on X5MC for brake components/systems??? It’s also a stop sale for any new vehicles being sold…apparently according to BMWNA parts may have been manufactured incorrectly and can pose a safety risk; yikes 😱

Edit: it’s an “integrated braking system” recall. A supplier did not manufacture some parts to specifications according to BMW. This could cause a braking failure therefore; there’s a safety recall.

Thus far it's not showing for me on the BMW Safety Recalls website after I inputted the VIN -- we'll see.

Mine didn’t show when I checked mine however on the mybmw app it shows and on the BMWFS site on my account it shows there too. 👀 then I called customer service where they confirmed it.

My 2023 X5 xDrive 40i was assembled on January 30th, 2023 and there is no recall noted on the BMW website after entering my VIN number, nor on my smartphone BMW app. So fair to say it might not affect all X5's.

evanseric21 do you think our vehicles will be part of this stop sale? Maybe TurtleBoy can chime in. Hopefully they’ve corrected the issue on the production line already.

I called BMW today and they told me this recall was opened on 12/21/23 and that my car was probably added to it recently. He was able to get some additional details like shutting off DSC (if I felt comfortable) to help keep the integrated braking system from failing. He assumes since this is so widespread that there will be a sense of urgency to get this addressed quickly but he doesn’t know for sure.

Called a few local dealers and all of them told me there’s no timeline and they don’t have the parts either.

That’s actually insane.
With an open safety recall without a timeline you can’t sell or trade your car as they won’t allow you to payoff your lease etc. SMH.

Yea I’m at a loss of words with this… I was actually in the process of swapping my lease when I found this out… which brought that trade to a screeching halt. They did ask me if I wanted to discuss early lease termination with the option of getting it inspected and seeing what the “realized value” is vs payoff. I doubt that would even work on a new car

Did you get the quote for the early lease termination?

I’m supposed to get a call early next week to set up the inspection. Once that happens BMWFS will give me a quote within 3-5 business days. If I don’t like the quote then they said I don’t have to continue with the termination process.

Are they waiving any early termination fees?

Doubt it… I don’t think it’s going to be anything worthwhile tbh. They’ll probably give me a quote $10k below my payoff and just waste my time. But I have nothing better to do while waiting for them to figure out this recall so why not haha

Keep us updated. I’m really curious as to how this turns out. It’s their own issue with the recall without parts or a timeline. Why should you or anyone else be penalized for their malfunction?

Found a similar recall from 2021: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/202...1V062-7131.pdf

And it looks like this is the part: https://parts.bmwnorthwest.com/p/Bmw...515A62702.html

This must be the stop sale on my X7 that the dealer told me has to do with the parking assistant…

This makes a lot more sense.
