Buying a Pre LCI X5M

I’m looking for a 2020-2023 BMW X5M and looking for tips on what to look for. Besides the visual inspection and car fax, what are other steps I should take to make sure I make a good purchase?

Thanks for the offer, looking for a different color combination but it’s a beautiful car. Good luck!

This would be a COVID era car build with probably missing options. There was a recent thread about this topic.

1) carfax
2) ask dealer for full service history
3) check for signs if it was modified before (tune, downpipes). Will be hard to check for a tune but most people that go through the trouble with downpipes would most likely tune the car as well.

4) get the app BimmerLink and a compatible Bluetooth dongle. It’s good to have if you plan to get any bmw. This allows you to quickly scan the ecu for codes/faults and clear them. I would totally scan a potential car I’m about to purchase just to see what codes are logged. Takes 2-3mins if that and the dealer wouldn’t even know. If you see a bunch of codes it’s a clear sign to avoid that car.

Thank you Alan, any recommendations for the doggie? A couple popular ones say they do not fit the F95

Dravit grey and Sakhir Orange would be my number 1 choice. Also like Tanzanite Blue.

Alan gave great advice. Would personally avoid any vehicle with aftermarket modifications - I’ve seen too many where they weren’t done right and it cost a fortune to sort the car.

Tires wear quickly and are quite expensive so make sure you get measurements. Brakes can be quite costly too so get those checked out. The seat bolsters (esp drivers bottom) can wear heavily so pay close attention. Headlights are expensive (laser) so make sure they’re not pitted or cloudy.

Please ensure that the vehicle comes with both keys and the key card. Check all interior LED lights as some have had them fail and get denied under CPO warranty (shameful for BMW IMO). Make sure the center armrests front and rear are ok ($$$ to fix - my rear was broken and the part was $1200)

Lastly ensure that the break-in service was done on time (BMW has reportedly declined CPO on cars where it was done too late, suggesting it may be important).

Hope this helps and doesn’t induce nausea. It is a wonderful car and I love it.

I've been using this for my X5M the last few years. I'm ocd so i scan my car all the time just to make sure nothing is wrong.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

With this you can also use the app bimmercode to code some features on/off.

Lol, I actually found that one on Amazon and bought it before I saw your response. Glad to know I got the same one.

I have 2020 Tanzanite over ivory/blue with 18k miles, bought as a one-owner Certified Preowned CPO from Braman BMW in West Palm Beach with no damage and a clean carfax. I am only interested in selling because I am eyeballing another Porsche. 🙄 It still under CPO warranty til 11/25. I have installed MSS height adjustable springs and custom 22" BBS SV wheels. Also have Racechip Black Series w/bluetooth in original box (not installed)
Ceramic coated.

*As a bonus, the mfg date is before BMW started locking ecu's!

PM if interested.
