Hello all - I stepped away from BMW’s for a while and now I’m back having just picked up a ‘25 X5 M.

Last BMW I had was sporting iDrive 7. I’m trying to learn about whatever system is in this vehicle (I typically go to YouTube and watch a demo and follow along in the car). But when I look at iDrive 8, 8.5 or 9, none of them look like what comes in this car. The home screen is way different. Maybe it’s just 8.5 that’s been skinned?

The '24 X5M came out with iDrive 8 (like all other '24 X5. I think during the late summer last year BMW sent an update to 8.5. Regular X5s got the full 8.5 with the new quick shortcuts and UI layout.

For some reason X5M didn't get the full 8.5, we got the new climate control page and setup but do not have the widget and quick selector on the home screen. Technically it is 8.5, but with a different UI than the rest of the fleet.

From what I got from these forums, had to do with the hardware in the M version which is not compatible with the full 8.5. Yours being a '25 might get future full updates and maybe even iDrive 9.

Got a loaner with the full 8.5 and honestly I like my version better TBH. Also once everything is setup I hardly have to use the actual screen.

How do you find out what version the iDrive is?
