Hi Gang,

Sorry if this has been discussed; I couldn't find anything when I searched...

I've noticed non-US M Sports have silver mirror caps, while US cars simply have body-colored mirrors.

I couldn't find them listed on the US configurator, so are these port-installed, or simply not available in the US???

the cerium grey mirror caps and accents are generally reserved for M Performance (not M Sport) vehicles. M Sport is styling only while M performance is well, performance. These are only available be on the M50d and upcoming M50i so they'd need to be imported from outside the US.

edit: example my M40i has cerium grey mirror caps but the M Sport version does not. [IMG]undefined[/IMG]

ahhhh....makes perfect sense. Totally familiar w/the X3 M40i...I guess I just didn't see the other accents (besides the mirrors) on the cars I've been seeing.

When I saw the European reviews/videos, I just assumed they were standard M Sport packaged cars...

Not a problem, it's sort of the signature design piece for M Perf vehicles (grill, mirrors, side vents). If you check the BMW UK site it shows the pieces as noted. Personally I prefer the body colored bits and a black grill, but I understand the appeal.

There is nothing stopping you from buying the caps form the M50i next year

You can always buy the G01 X3 Cerium Grey Mirror Cover.
G01/G02 X3/X4 share the same side mirror cover as the G05 X5.

Are you sure it's the same housing? Does this mean we could use X3M mirror caps when it launches?

Based on the part numbers that I gather around, they are the same between G01/G02 and G05.
The same as F25/F26 LCI to F15/F16.

Any P/Ns surface for the X3M mirror caps? I wonder if they'll fit without a new side housing.

I have done a lot of F85/F86 X5M/X6M Side Mirror Retrofit on F15/F16 X5/X6. Whether with CF cover or Body color cover.

Looking forward to do retrofit on the G30, G01/G02, and G05, maybe G06 too.

Same here, I don't want to "///M" my non-M X5 but the mirror caps are an exception if possible. I prefer keeping my vehciles within the stock profile rather than be something they're not.
