got this today, now I get a prompt for my dealer to start the set up, what's weird is they already did and it's not working.

Update, after switching to my S10+ (unlocked US mode) the digital key was able to get activated via my CA. I haven't tried it yet but everything went as planned in iDrive and the BMW Connected app

Android App - climatize / remote start available
Just curious if other Android app users are seeing the climatize/remote start feature available within their phone app. I have a Samsung Galaxy 10+ and my 2019 X5 has comfort access. I'm running, Android version 9 (Pie) and the latest app version of BMW Connected 6.1.1.5396 released April 19th.
I was able to get the digital key capability set up on my phone but wishing I could remote start too. |

So my dealer is struggling to activate this for me. They service foreman followed the instructions and set pin for me for digital key in their connected drive service cockpit. Next I am supposed to get a prompt in the app on the phone to download the key after logout/log back but nope no prompt. Under digital key tab it still shows register at dealer. The foreman been in touch with BMW NA and Germany but he believes their backend is the issue. I can live without digital key but at this point is just something I'm itching to get done 😁 ( I have galaxy s10e on att)

I have a reg key a display key and 1 key card , can I add more key cards ? And I read someone is using there iPhone ? Or are they just putting card in case ? Problem with that is the nfc chip in the card siting on wireless charger will eventually burn up it happened to my work I'd , I keep it in phone case and wireless charger turned it black after a month an has a burn hole now also

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android V8.0 on the AT&T network. According to BMW specs and the Genius hotline, this phone should be able to accept a digital key. And the dealer did authorize the key.
Yet when I try to download the Digital Key in the phone, I get the message: Incompatible Device Unfortunately, your smartphone is not compatible. |

Not yet. Apple hasn't given anyone access to their NFC hardware ... yet. There are plenty of hopes and innuendo that maybe the ghost of St. Jobs will grace us with NFC in iOS 13 later this year.

make sure all the permissions are enabled for the app. go to settings theb permissions. the ability to make calls is needed for nfc to work. i received the same message until i enabled everything.

I can't add one again, pretty sure they need to reissue me a new key because I changed phones. Dealer in SA was clueless about it so go figure.

if you are getting a message in the app about swapping phones and performing a factory reset, I found it necessary to delete the key from my former phone. Removing it in the vehicle was not enough. In the end I logged in on the new phone and received the error message saying it could not install, then logged in on the old phone and told it to install. The old phone gave the same error, which then let me install on the new phone. It sounds crazy but I think the bmw server needs to know the key is deleted off the old phone.
the above should work if the digital key page on your app is showing as veing up to the install optuon; ie register step is shown as completed. i hope this makes sense. i am going from memory. |
