The only hope we have is via coding at this point...

Interesting developments! Please keep us posted!

I got confirmation that my CA will be emailing a document I created with all my findings (pics, diagrams, videos, etc) on the G05 cornering lights to the BMWNA X5 trainer tomorrow. Hopefully he will have some additional insight into this as well once I hear back.

i am glad we are getting some news at least, and not like the other SA's saying this was disabled by design.

my dealer told me today that they are working on my lights today and will report back.

lets see what happens.

If the theory is the corner lights were turned off for the US market wouldn't we hear from folks outside the US that confirm they do work in there country?

The genius in dealership told me the same.
But I highly doubt what she said, because she does not really know much about new X5. I don't know how BMW trained those geniuses

denniss, did you dealer give any explanation as to why the corner lights are disabled? Is it a regulatory issue or are they somehow tied into the anti-dazzle coding of the laser lights? Thanks.

They don't. That was my point earlier in this and the Laser threads. It's pure BS (IMHO) and US "requirements" are simply being used as an excuse. My question still stands - in non-US countries why don't cornering lights work AND has laser power been reduced globally as well.

it is my understanding the corner lights do not work on any G05 world wide? Since this was a feature advertised and demonstrated on there website wouldn't we all be in a position to get some compensation?

I've had mine at the dealer for a few days now, and they aren't getting any fault codes for the cornering lights and have not been able to successfully program anything in order to make them activate. They called BMW Canada and were told that they don't exist on Canadian or American G05's because of regulations.

I asked why the G05's are the only vehicle subject to these supposed regulations when every current and old BMW has them in one way or another as far back as our E70 and likely prior? The advisor obviously couldn't answer that so said he'd put in another call to BMW Canada.

Am I correct with my next rebuttal that cornering lights DO NOT work on any laser equipped European or Asian G05's, so their excuse of NA Regulations is complete BS?

You would be correct. We have yet to see any G05 outside of the US with functional cornering lights. But as I'm sure you know, they work just fine on the 2019 M850i laser lights in the US and around the world.

Thanks ScottMZ3 for confirming that. I'll gladly go to battle over this as my dealer is going to have my vehicle for some weeks until BMW releases the 'steering twitch' fix.

Just imagine how awesome this Go5 would be if BMW would just fix everything.
Sales would go through the roof.

The dealer agrees that the corner light should work and they have submitted a PUMA case. They will inform me once they hear back from BMW.

Should be interesting....

30 Jan - mnewnam's dealer opened PUMA case - dealer confirmed hardware installed, cornering lights not working - PUMA

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=132

12 Feb - mnwenam's dealer response re PUMA case:

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=63

"Well... Just got the official word from the dealer via their PUMA case... BMW says they have disabled the cornering lights on all North American X5s and the dealer said they have no way of coding them to turn on."

Basically the same thing I was told, the bulbs simply don't exist, due to NA regulations. mmmhmmm

Disabled? Don't exist? I think we've been snookered. Just like the laser lights. Does BMW expect NHTSA to approve them? If they are approved will dealers be able to activate them? This is a real fiasco.
