So just to throw more fuel onto the fire, especially for those wondering if the rear seat wrinkle is intentional, here is a snap shot from an early reveal video dated Jun 8, 2018.

The seats clearly do not have any wrinkles!

That Doesn't count it's a retouched photo. So much so it docent even look real. Possibly it isn't real.
The latest production seats are only wrinkled in certain areas which looks intentional. Even it was originally designed without wrinkles, then they made a change later, that still makes it intentional.

I did not retouch it. Its a screen cap from the video of an actual X5. Watch the video....take a look starting at 9:46, you can see the back seats being folded down and no wrinkles.

I think most of the folks here love their BMW rides. We purchase them for several great reasons.

At the same time, I don't think we all should compromise on the quality. Let your voice be heard by writing to the CEO or reaching out to BMWNA.

Yep, I'd lay odds on all the early pre-production G05 stuff being made by Lear.

This is indeed the best way.

make it clear to BMW Mgt that this is unacceptable for that price.

I meant they retouch those photos just like BigMacs in adverts . Preproduction models are just that. They can always change the design of something before or even during production. I agree some of those earlier seats were trash, but looks like the current seats were sorted out. The wrinkles are very specific now and extend out from a certain area in the seat pattern. Out of thousands of X5s you think all of them were mistakes?

We picked ours up last Thursday. Our CA mentioned that BMW has heard it loud and clear about the seats. I'm still not real comfortable with how ours look. Have been watching many a video showing the use of water/steam and/or heat only for decreasing creases and wrinkles in leather.

Seems to me all they would have to do is pull the leather down lengthwise to pull out those puffies and then sew.

Yours is one of the best ones compared to other photos people posted. When did you take delivery? I wonder if the situation has been improved in recent builds.

Last Thursday. Talked to an auto interior upholstery tech today about steam/heat and she was firm in her reply - "leave it alone." Will send her pix when she gets back from vacation next week and update here.

I’ve emailed him once before. Not even a reply. Totally ignored. I recommend a certified letter.

My friend got a response from BMWNA. He was told that the wrinkly look are by design. They are meant to give a more comfort appearance as opposed to the stretched look.

don't shoot the messenger.

Thanks for the update. I think it’s obviously by current design.

This really does suck. Has to be dependent on what country built the car.
