When the Tesla hits a pedestrian or someone on one of those ride sharing scooters while on its way to pick you up, who is liable? It's the owner.

No thanks.

I understand being afraid of the future. People said similar things when radios were put in cars half a century ago. I'm pretty certain autonomous 5 cruising at 5mph can avoid that and probably safer than most human drivers, especially one on a cell phone.

I have a comp sci degree. The Tesla stuff isn't ready for prime time. Enjoy your magical black box which can't account for edge cases which may injury you or others.

I am asking because on the G01 you need to hold the parking button...
yes that's why I made the video, this system is more advanced than the G01's system.

It's funny when people have to throw their credentials for validation. To each their own... no need to jump down each other's throats to defend a POV. I drive a modern BMW, but I admire my coworkers' Teslas. Chill pal. Also, you're an expert now? lol Do you work on/design autonomous systems?

Are you? I'm not an expert, but software engineer with enough basic understanding and time in the industry to laugh at when people fall for crappy tech wrapped in shiny bows. Their vision only approach is flawed and not ready for public use.

Plus you know the whole too cheap to put in a LIDAR thing. Because doing so would make the car unaffordable.

I'm not against all autonomous vehicles, I'm against Tesla and Uber, who are reckless.

So you hate Tesla and ok with autonomous driving. Say no more. Why trash a fellow member simply highlighting a cool feature from a competing car? Chill.

"Chill". When you have no insight offer but just want the conversation to end. Got it.

Anyway back to topic, I think the parking tech is cool, but redundant because of the surround cameras. I can't parallel park worth a damn without them.

Removable coin container (or ashtray, if anyone still uses those in cars). The container has a real gruff metal pattern on the outside.

Also, what's the range like on the sensors? You shouldn't be driving on the left side of the road just because that's where your parking spot is, so I'm wondering if it can find a left side spot from the right side of the road.

I have the self (parallel) park feature on two of my cars and have used it maybe once or twice. Whenever I or my wife has used it, it has just slowed us down more than anything. It also has issues with tighter spots where it would still only take me one or two adjustments to get into. Reality is that in NYC, most spots aren't going to have 30ft of space, so it looks like the system struggles with that.

I guess it helps those who don't know how to parallel park, and in this case, who don't know how to park perpendicularly either, but to me, those "drivers" don't know how to drive properly and shouldn't even be on the road.

Nose in or back in

Hi - thanks for sharing the video, very cool feature. Couple of questions
1) How does it know if I want to park on the left side or right side? Do I need to use my indicator? As another poster said, I don't want to drive on the wrong side of the road just so I can park on that side

2) How do I choose between parking nose in or if I want to back in?

Thanks!

1 and 2: The system analyzes spots on both sides, and it shows them as either perpendicular or parallel parking spots. You have to select the spot by clicking on the screen.
