50e Brooklyn Grey detailed

Got the chance to do a full detail on my new X5. Debadge, iron decon, clay bar, polish, and graphene ceramic coating.

I got the car off the truck and had the dealer skip wash, so the paint was almost entirely free of marring to start with. Still the most iron contamination I've ever seen on a new car. Must have spent a few days parked in the railyard.

Adam's iron remover:

After the iron remover I did a clay bar--very little extra bonded contaminants. Not really worth this step. Decon'ed and ready for polish:

Because the paint was in very good shape, I did just a light polish for gloss/jeweling. First time I've used this Sonax stuff and I was pleased. Probably the easiest polish I've used--no dusting, friendly on rubber trim, no/minimal residue.

Polished, ready for coating:

Chose Adam's Graphene Advanced for the coating this time since I've been impressed with their spray coating on other cars. Definitely impressed with this product too. Not the easiest application process but it leveled off fine and the gloss is terrific. Doesn't pick up in photos but has a "candy coat" sort of look.

Coating done, checking for high spots:

All done:

Lionel Hutz Well done and she is a beauty. Are you planning to leave her de-badged?

Yeah, the x drive badging doesn’t look nice IMHO. The X5 by itself looked fine but decided to go all the way.

Spent the morning washing and waxing. This photo after a coat of P21s 100% carnauba wax.

That looks really sharp! Love the debadging... great job!

How long did the detailing take you?

I split it up over a few days. Decon probably 45min, polishing 3 hrs, ceramic coating 2-3 hrs.

The OP's BG looks outstanding and is great color.
Carnauba Wax works fantstic for me and has for years, no intentions of changing as there is no such thing as a "permanent wax". I'll put our Carnauba waxed vehicles up against any ceramic job.
