Wanted to get peoples opinion on a deal I am working on.

2019 BMW X5 CPO. MSRP of around 80k. With less than 10k miles. Dealership is offering 67.8K OTD.

KBB for this is around 52-60K so around 56k-65k OTD

Seems as though no one is discounting vehicles right now.

With MY2021 right around the corner, I am wondering if I should just wait and get a brand new 2020 X5 with deep discounts.

OTD is subjective because of taxes, dealer fees, etc since those are all variables.

Better to post detailed pricing to see what's going on.

But I'd personally walk on this deal.

In January, I picked up a 77k MSRP 19 40i "executive demo" truck in PA (9%) with 750 miles on it for just under 66k.

For your awareness, the max offer I'm seeing on Carvana/Vroom right now is 40-45k, and the max dealer offer I've gotten (was looking at an MComp) was 55k, and that too only in exchange for the MComp order. Current payoff with BMWFS is 66k.

I would walk or push for closer to 60, unless you had an extreme need for that specific build and just want it. Higher MSRP builds can sometimes be tougher to move, but I assume the difference vs what I have is air suspension, B&W, or NV, none of which personally are ultra critical (in my opinion).

Historically discounts in Washington have been low if not the lowest in the nation. Folks have routinely reported only being able to get between 3% and 5% before incentives.

As an aside, it generally is not good to negotiate/compare using OTD or monthly payments due to the many variables. Work on getting a selling price before incentives, the applicable incentives, all fees and then taxes (not sure Washington has any).

I asked them point blank what price they would list is at for sale and they danced around the subject .

Car is spotless.

A couple variables.

Due to COVID-19, I now work remotely full time. Earliest I would go back to the office would be January (limited office time). We don't need the x5 anymore . It is An extra car at this point.

I've wanted an m2 for a long time. With the interest rates are so low that I tried sneaking into an m2 comp deal. Almost like a Refinance so to speak.

When I do get an different car, I would change the build a bit. Black on black is not the right color spec for me. I don't keep up with the washing routine required . I need an interior that pops like tartufo and those new red calipers.

Car market is bogus right now. They wouldn't budge on the price.

Local dealership to me has a 2020 X5 40i msrp 83k sitting on there lot for 150+ days. Talked to sales manager and said the best he could do is 6% plus incentives. Sure keep paying interest on the car instead letting it go at cost. You're going to end up selling it to another dealership anyways. Washington market is on something.

The cpo was listed at 62k so ~68k OTD for me.

Also, I need to get out of my 2014 X5 50i before it has another repair bill. Last month of CPO warranty thanks to COVID and the HPFP gave out. Rather put money into a new car than repair bills. The N63 has been a drivetrain nightmare.
