Taking new delivery question ----

Is it customary for the dealer to wax/polish the car while taking delivery.

We picked up a carbon black X5 and the paint definitely has dealer/regular washing marks on it..

I asked the sales guy the following day if they could wax/polish it and he said they dont do that....

whats your experience?

I asked the dealer to not run it through their auto washer once they took delivery , only hand wash it ( who knows if they did) but they definitely detailed it and wax/polished. He said they do that to every new delivery.

I didn’t see swirl marks outside in the sun - best I could do , I figured.

Update, dealer is going to fix it.. gave me a loaner and will be delivering my car back to me *i live 1.5hrs away*

Excellent service albeit with a little of bitching but glad they did the right thing after all.. we shall see tomorrow when they deliver it ultimately..

So for anyone having a similar experience, do not hesitate to ask the dealer to go over the paint and wax/remove swirls/marring from a lazy pre-delivery cleaning..

That's a great idea. I've never done that in the past because I know I'm always going to get it detailed. This time around I already know that I'm doing ceramic coating with a professional detailer; so I might not mind if they do a prep wash. I never use drive through car washes either. I detail myself or in the winter there's a hand car wash that's near me.
