Maybe they can also allow you to send quick home voice messages through Alexa at home

I bought it and set it up. Messed with it once or twice and haven't used it again. If it worked in my 2006 Z4 it would probably be pretty good. In the 2016 340 it is a bit pointless. Maybe on a long road trip or something, but it just wasn't that much more functionality for having additional wires in the car.

I had one of these... when they first came out...
Tried it on my Buick Encore... it syncs with your Alexa App on your cell phone... and works through your phone's bluetooth connection to your car's audio.

My Buick wouldn't allow the Alexa to pass through the phone, and would only allow my phone to make hands-free calls... so I had to use the AUX plug into the AUX port in the dash, in addition to the USB for power... Could BARELY hear the thing, and had to switch away from my radio over to my AUX every time I wanted to use it.

It wasn't worth it (for me).... too much fuss and low volume.

But yes, it did function just like my Echo devices in the house... time, weather, trivia, reminders, and I could turn on the smart plugs in the house from the car, etc. etc.
