Of course BMW will say that. If they say anything other than that, then they will immediately be held liable for lots of repairs and huge bills.

Understood and I too did at one time think that but now that the G05 is going on its third year and we still have such variability, I started believing it myself. BMW has had plenty of time to work with their new seat supplier. I have no idea how many reached out to BMW to complain or if they scan our forums but am hopeful that somehow this issue has reached through to them. Due to the virus initiated shut down, we've not seen many later 2020 seats posted here so am curious to see if in fact what kkratochvil and mrracer posted is what the future will bring. I certainly hope so.

mrracer 's seats are similar to how the overwhelming majority of seats have looked like since 2019. Keep in mind the terrible ones, which should have never passed QC, have mainly been posted here not the hundreds of thousands that look like his.

I opted for the heated seats. Has anyone correlated heated seats cause wrinkly seats?

Someone posited that theory but it didn't hold water. Only the Sensatec seats come without wrinkles in the X5.

I have not dug too deep into the X6 but someone posted that the X6 has smooth seats no matter which covering is chosen. I'm not sure that is correct though as I believe some have "wrinkles".

I'd posted my G06 rears here: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=968.

I have heated rear seats, Merino leather. I haven't tried to do any correlation with the G06 either. In theory, I suppose it's possible the G06 rears are in-fact different, as they're sunk a bit lower and it's possible they're proportioned just a bit differently.

The X6's are made on the same assembly line in conjunction with the X5's, wouldn't they use the same seats? I had assumed they shared these and the same seat batches are assigned to both X5 and X6 at random.

Yes, I saw your pics. Nice and smooth, other than some pre-production press pics, I don't think we have seen anything like those in an X5 in the wild. They are the way most of the seats that I saw when I looked at pics on dealer sites but I'm pretty sure I saw wrinkles in some X6s but was hard to tell for sure from the pics. An X6 guy posted that he had never seen wrinkles on the X6, perhaps he was correct.

No, the seats are different from what we have seen.

In general, the seating design - rear seat backrest, rear center arm rest, and rear seat bench cushions are the same between the G05/G06 - though different part numbers. Merino leather patterns are visually identical.

Differences would be rear head restraints that don't raise/lower due to decreased headroom. Significant difference are the rear seat leather side finishers [Part No. 5] are different between the two vehicles, seat structural parts eg seat back and bench foam cushions. Funny that the ISO fix part numbers are different too...

Parts identical:
52207443428 Foam part, backrest, middle bottom - Part 9 X5, Part 6 X6
Other small hardware - clamp, clips

July build, took delivery last week, Extended Ivory Merino.

I have ZERO issues w/ the wrinkles, and think they add a very luxurious appearance to the seating surface.

I think I would file a complaint if there weren't any wrinkles!!!

993! From Jan 2019. The camera seems to make them look more pronounced than they are. Way back when I told my wife about this thread concerning the wrinkles, she asked "what wrinkles?" She never noticed them. Too bad she isn't like that with the wrinkles on my face and forehead. LOL

Ha ha, its gonna take quite a few wrinkle-less seats to convince me. Remember it was hit-n-miss for the 2019 & 2020's.
