[QUOTE=RFGuy_KCCO;24124319][QUOTE=bono;24122426]Really? I have this option on G30. One of the options which does not work as it should and I stopped trying to use it.

I am thinking about getting an invisible one for the bike rack though. |

My CA tells me it will not have the "kick to open" if you get the factory hitch.

Do you have personal experience that this is true? I admit I do not, but I asked 2 different CAs at my dealer and they both said the hands free kick to open would not work on a car with a factory hitch? I hope they are wrong since I ordered a hitch.

I think there are some crossed wires here. The OP has installed an after market “stealth” hitch which he says still retains the kick to open feature. OP is not referring to factory installed hitch, which may or may not be compatible with kick to open.

AHA, now I understand. I apologize for misunderstanding the debate. The title of this thread is indeed "Stealth Hitch". My bad.

What are you guys using to measure tongue weight? What about electronic brake controller?
Any chance this can work with the stealth hitch? https://www.weigh-safe.com I had an F15 with the invisichitch. I'm assuming stealth hitch is the same manufacturer. Looks the same. I'll be towing a futura trailer with a GT3RS. |

Did you mounted the hitch? I am thinking to install it as well.

To clear up any confusion on this. I have the EU factory hitch, and it works fine with the Comfort Access trunk kick to open.
It works whether the hitch is retracted or deployed. Last edited by archivedaccount; 05-03-2019 at 12:38 PM.. Reason: Clear up EU/RoW descrepancies |

Hmm, factory hitch and kick to open? Interesting.

I have come to believe that there are two completely different styles of X5 factory trailer hitches possible. The first below, I believe, ships in European markets. The second elsewhere including Canada, US, and Australia. I better be getting the second, the flexibility of a receiver is essential. But, it seems likely that the second does not allow kick access, whereas the first does.

Not sure quite which you're referring to as the first?
The silver one is the one on my (UK) vehicle - factory fitted (and retractable) and the kick-to-open works just fine. |

The pic order changed on me after the post, so I edited the text to be accurate now. The silver one is the EU one, which you confirm. That is NOT the stock trailer hitch being put in for NA vehicles, the other one with the receiver and not stealth or retractable is the NA factory one.

I can also confirm that the US factory installed hitch does indeed remove the "kick to open" function. Tested this on several dealer vehicles and confirmed with BMW Genius.
I also just saw that the OEM harness and controller are available as parts (at last!) and have sent the part info to Steve @ Stealth hitches. Hopefully he'll work the OEM harness option in real soon so that I can order a full rack and tow kit. |
