Order MY20 at end of June or wait for MY21?
Is there any pro/con to ordering a MY20 now nearing the end of June with the MY21 around the corner? How much of an immediate depreciation hit will the MY20 take in a month when MY21 are available? Will my 11% off MSRP and $3,500 in rebates be valid in a month if I went with a MY21, and would my MY14 trade in be devalued significantly? This will be a custom order, not off the lot. Thanks all for the input.

In general, last year there was little difference, if any, between the discounts that were offered at the end of MY19 and the ones at the beginning of MY20. Of course this year could be different.

Given the current state of the world and car sales, if you're a good negotiator, and working with a reasonable dealer, you should be able to negotiate a decent deal on a MY21. Rebates are BMWNA controlled but 3500 is likely close if you have loyalty or conquest. That said it's not uncommon for the first couple of months of a new MY for BMWFS to not offer great residuals (if leasing). So you'll be taking a bit of a gamble there, but I wouldn't be overly concerned since this is not the first MY for the G05 nor is MY21 an LCI year.
If you're purchasing and keeping for 5+ years it won't matter much. If keeping for 2-4 years that's another story. For short term purchases I'd typically recommend a newer MY. As far as your MY14 trade is concerned, it's anyone's guess. Used values change everyday. However, can't be much on a 6-7 yo model. Not even sure which MY14 you own....

Thanks, it would be purchased plus trade of MY14 F15 X5. Kept this one 5+ years and plan to do the same on the G05. One of my main concerns with my current vehicle pushing 80k is an issue arising in the next couple months with all the upcoming summer travel that will put me out of pocket of a repair. I think based on the responses I will jump on a MY20 given the deal and incentives plus peace of mind.
