I can only give an answer to the poll after about 2 years of ownership. I evaluate such a question from the time I signed the order until after at least 2 years or more of driving it. The part that I have gone through, meaning the signing and waiting for my car being built (eventually not being built at all) has been an utterly shit experience making me feel unappreciated as a customer. Based on that I will never order my 5th BMW in the future. Luckily my dealer managed to get a hand on a car that was going to be used as their demo car but were kind enough to sell it to me instead. That means that if it ends up being a fun and reliable car for my business in the following years to come, I might be persuaded to order an X5 (g05 or next gen) again.

sure, I reside in Houston and most of the time (when traffic is normal) I can't get too much further than the other guy in a Honda next to me. We both end up at the same red light it seems. I do love the start up sound and it is nice to launch from time to time when I get out of the city but otherwise it seems to be a waste of money. The 40i has plenty of power. Also I drive less than 700 miles per month.

I would go for another one unless BMW starts offering every feature as subscription based.
It seems Remote Engine start is being offered as additional option at around 600+ AUD. |

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/b...as-a-platform/ Note the recent issue with Tesla stripping out Autopilot from a car sold on to another owner - then demanding the full option cost again from the new owner to have it reinstated - hopefully BMW and others wouldn't go down this route but the article hasn't ruled it out: "BMW representatives indicated that upgraded features will apply to the car, not the user, but indicated that all the details on used car sales are still being worked out." Could this go even further in future, more than enabling options - a direct charge that is levied for each and every use of literally anything in the vehicle, automatically deducted form your authorized account / credit card? A charge just to open the door, then to start it, then for every gear-change, every mile driven, every press of the brake - as it's all logged, it could be a 'service' charge......! Wait for the revolt to begin! |

Yep, but doubt they'll still be selling the G05 in 10 years time lol.
The car itself is pretty much perfect as a daily driver for me. Great looks, tech, build quality, and of course driving experience. Found a nice little detail today: |

Have had an X3 loaner (pretty nicely equipped) for about a week while the X5 is getting repaired (wife side swiped a pole in a parking lot). The X3 is fun, nimble, tossable.... but most of all, it's confirmed that we probably won't be downsizing to it as our next SUV.
The X5 is just simply more refined, luxurious, smoother, comfortable, and even quicker. Over this past week we've definitely missed some of the creature comforts with our X5. From the soft merino leather, the massaging seats, and especially ventilated seats in this current heat. Even compared to the competition... I don't really see a better alternative. The GLE doesn't drive as nice and the interior doesn't feel as luxurious outside of that giant screen. The Cayenne is $20k more for a comparably optioned model. The Q7 is too big and the Q8 powertrain just screams turbo lag.

I've leased every generation of X5 since the original E53. Haven't had any significant issues beyond scheduled maintenance and the random tire repair.
My favorite were custom ordered '03 E53 3L M54 I6 in gorgeous Sterling Grey metallic and '06 E53 4.8is 4.4L N62 V8 in Imola Red. The 4.8is was soulful at it's time and spent most of the time at the gas pump - avg 14mg. Followed by '11 xDrive35d M Sport LCI and lastly '17 xDrive35i F15 with random adjustable steering wheel gremlins and front driver multi-contour seat needing a new motor late into the lease. Been extremely satisfied with my G05 and the best X5 I've leased to date - refined, luxurious, comfortable and balanced performance despite the random HUD display outage which fixes itself in 20-30min on the next drive. Looking forward to my next MY23 G05!

The only alternative I would do and it would have to be is BMW screwed me over would be the new Cayenne GTS V8TT but nicely equipped with less HP than the X5 50i is $152k. That’s just Porsche clearly loosing touch with the market demographics. It’s a nice $95k SUV but at $152k as tested they are pathetic. The whole VAG shared SUV platform isn’t exclusive enough to demand that kind of money. I will applaud Porsche for recognizing no one wants a 6 cylinder performance SUV above $90k but a base GTS is $108k and it is stripped to less than VW Jetta spec.

July 5 update: I doubt receiving additional votes is going to change the outcome so it looks like most of the ownership pain of the 2019 model year is behind you as BMW has released solutions to many of those issues and the 2020's have brought much needed happiness. Also, one of the most frustrating issues, the lack of OTA updates, is now rolling out across the globe and the joy of driving the G05 has overshadowed previous and current issues to the point where you would buy/lease another one.
For those of us who have yet to own one, this is good news! .. .. and BMW Financial has extended their finance charge of 0.9% another month . |

I absolutely love my g05! I needed the 3rd row if not id get a x3 Mcomp.
Only if bmw offered the 3rd row option for the x5 M, or even the 50i. The only flaw my x5 has is the way it feels when going 90+ mph. Its really not a flaw. I just need the m2!!! Or the m3 but its ugly but im still need it😭😭😭 |

First time bmw owner landed me in a G05 - 11k miles later I'm still in love with it. Needless to say, I'd def get another when this lease is up. The only debate is whether I go CPO or a brand new lease. The G05 I currently have does not have a lot of fancy add-ons, and no towing package. So that's my debate on the new one - CPO for what I want, a new lease, or pay to keep what I have. I must say, the car still smells good even after over a year!

In a heartbeat!
Best car I've ever owned. Self-drives like a Tesla, the comfort of a limo, and the practicality of a mini-van. Reliability is not on point, as is typical BMW, but other than that it's a belter! |

107 people voted so far in this poll, while not bad and I don't think the outcome will basically change, it falls a bit short of some of the other polls taken in terms of the number of voters. Would anyone else like to vote?
Yes I know some of us don't yet own a G05 and therefore will not vote. - Still working or retired....162 - How old are we...............176 - Which interior = luxury.....94 . |
