Remote Engine Start - Australia
The connected drive store is now offering remote engine start as an option for $AU690 including GST.
It is greyed out for me at the moment. Does anyone have it as an option to actually purchase? When drive recorder came out, it was also originally greyed out and only became available with a software upgrade. Hopefully the same applies for this?? I am on 03.2020.23. |

I can see it in my Connected Drive, and its also greyed out.
This can mean: 1. Its not yet available here in Australia, possibly dependent on a coming S/W release. 2. Its available but our cars dont support it. 3. Its part of one of the other service packages. I hear the July 2020 S/W release will have some major new stuff in it, so it could be the one. I doubt our cars don't support it, so that rules out 2, and I've done some searching in the other packages where sometimes they bundle up lots of services - and couldn't find Remote Engine Start - so probably rules out #3. |

I also see there is M adaptive suspension available as a download from the store as well. That is not greyed out, but I don't think I could be bothered spending a few $100's to buy it. |

I've got the M-sport package, so I've already got M adaptive suspension, which explains why that option is greyed out for me - BUT the question here is how the hell do you "download" an adaptive suspension package?

I just checked mine and saw a few more options apart from Remote Engine start $690
Iconic Sound Sport - Sporty BMW sound inside your vehicle $220. M Sport I already do have but the option price shows as $650 one off. |

Hi guys, off the topic but can I please check with you if you still see the upload image function in the connected drive 'Control' portal? I remember it used to be there but it's gone now when I am logged in.

That's sad that we have to pay for this option. I believe its available without any charges in US/Europe, why we have to pay extra for it down under?

Works as advertised - subject to the usual slowness/buginess of connected drive commands.
Required activation/upgrading of the car software which took about 10 minutes, and then enabling of the feature in the car settings. Pretty cool feature! |

Thanks for the update. I hope it is just software and will work on all builds. I am sick of getting 3rd degree burns when sitting on the seats after 30 minutes in the shopping centre car park in Summer!

Do you have a petrol or diesel engine G05? If the latter I suspect you will be out of luck.

I also found out today that you can activate it by pressing the lock button on the remote 3 times. A much more reliable alternative!

Nope. It's not offered at all in the UK so a few coders have looked at options to self-enable.
It is possible to retrofit on petrol cars, but requires addition of 1CR to FA, VO Coding, and purchase and install of a specific FSC. Petrol car owners have successfully done this, but on diesel cars there is no space for the FSC in DME ECU so it appears that it can't be done. That's my experience at least. I am not aware of any diesel G05 owner with remote start. Would be interesting to hear if there was? |

Oh well, I'll just wait and see what happens. If it never comes it doesn't bother me too much. I hear the pending July S/W release will be a big one, so fingers crossed. |

Looks to be loads of new stuff in 07/2020, just how much will be available to older cars remains to be seen. If any of it works, I'll be making the coding available |
