On the flip side, it was comical how easily we were ripping off low 4 seconds in the 50i M-Sport pretty much at will, any time. It became obvious that some manufactures were not using off the production floor vehicles to get their reported performance times. BMW and Porsche are two manufactures that are overly conservative the other way. 30 years of 911’s and track events have shown I could beat vehicles I shouldn’t be able to by the manufactures performance specs. This is why I think real world BMW 650hp should be able to take top performance SUV. Transmission is just as important as engine and BMW has the shift times down to perfection. |

It is an interesting time indeed in performance car world. For seasoned track drivers and performance enthusiasts - it is the last splash of HP wars and petrol car excitement before EV world takes over.
The number of vehicles at 500+ HP is amazing. Most of it is in US since Europe is tightening regulations. Another shift is - super High performance SUVs - which is counter intuitive to true drivers inclinations - More weight requires even more HP to move it, bigger, stronger parts to sustain that HP and braking/cornering forces which in turn adds more weight. All wheel drive, auto gear boxes to deal with all this weight. Also I would say - the pool of people looking or these cars is limited too. It is enthusiast with high incomes to afford 120K cars. Which way will they go? even though I'm tempted to get 650HP SUV - but i still prefer light , maneuverable track cars with manual gear boxes. So i'm going Porshe 911/ BMW M2 way for my performance car And stick with reasonably powerful and comfortable family mover/towing vehicle. |

I'm the type who prefers to have an X5 50i with a full comfort-oriented air suspension as my daily/family hauler, and my Carrera S in the garage for my weekend toy. If I could have only one vehicle however, for whatever reason, I would consider an X5m, Cayenne Turbo, etc. For me though, at my age, as much as I love cars like the X5m, etc., the ride is just too punishing to drive daily on Michigan roads with my kids |

X5 model switch over is usually each August, but as I recall the 2015 F85/F86 SOP was 12/14 with a regular SOP of 1/15. The X7/G07 had a significant gap from December 2017 (pre-production model photos/press release) until March 1, 2019 when production models were released. My gut feeling is latter this year (November-December 2019), as the M8 still needs to come to market (8 series was released prior to the G05). The X5 M50i still needs to be released, which would expect to occur when the model year changes over August 2019. I saw F95 test mules making rounds in Arjeplog last month, so there is still ongoing testing.

X3/4M aren't the flagship ///M SAV that's why. The X5/6M will always get better aesthetics just like the M5

The X5 is the original and really the optimum size of the SAV platform and why it has become a legend in the BMW history book. The X7 is a necessity the way the market has gone but is outside the BMW wheelhouse of how they design. There is a reason Germans haven’t done people haulers for decades. I think BMW will own the luxury SUV market in all 4 sizes.

Except the F80 looks better than the F90 and the G80 probably will too. Subjective, I know. M5s have traditionally always been understated in the aesthetic department compared to the M3s. So, the new X5M being more aggressive than the X3M is an outlier, not the norm. Of course, this is the first X3M so there's that...

So it looks like ZCP comes with the M Performance steering wheel but no carbon fiber on the wheel trim. I might be mistaken though, it could just be the blurriness of the photo.
