Maybe the fact that it's a X5 40i and not a X5M like you say in the title?

My bad, I thought M sport is an X5M.

Is this a good buy though?

Tell is more about it? 1 owner? No accidents? Clean Carfax? Extremely low mileage for a 3 yrs old one, which is always good.

I really like the car.

I have owned audi and porsche but not a BMW

Worried about reliability given I plan to keep the car for another 10 years.

As long as you have proof that all services were done on time with the car and doesn't look neglected or modified there is no reason to think it would be any less reliable than your previous cars. If anything this gen BMW X5 ranks very high in customer satisfaction and the B58 in the 40i is the most reliable engine in the line up.
