21" Squared Wheel Setup - 2024 x50e

I know this or similar questions have been posted numerous time, but I can't find a clear answer to the following.

I'm about to purchase a 2024 x50e, and I don't want a staggered setup with 21"s (tire options/lack of rotation).

I'm thinking of sticking with the stock 20s and using them as winters (Canada), and purchasing a squared setup (Vossen HF-5) for 21s as my summer set.

All that I can find here through searching is tire widths for front and back, but not clear on required offsets and options for squared.

Would the safest/widest wheel to run on all 4 corners be 21x9.5?
What would the offset be? +37 all for corners?
Tires = 275/40/21?

Again, I apologize if it's been asked a million times, just trying to regroup into one posting.

I do not want different offsets/widths for front/rear.
I want to be able to rotate my tires properly to prolong life as the RFTs are pricey (different debate...).

Thank you in advance.

most ordered their vehicle with OEM 21” staggered for summer and purchased aftermarket 20” squares for winter. you’re doing it the other way around. nothing wrong with that, but because of that, info and experiences may be lacking.

I’d play around with sites that allow you to plug and play different sizes and offsets to see what the end results could look like.

will need to be mindful of the load rating for the rear winter tires you plan on getting in size 275/40R21. while they may be rated for the front, they may not be rated for the rear as the HV battery’s weight comes into play.

This. I had to get 285 wheels square set up because 275 would not accommodate.

2022 X5 45e. 20" wheels. I got Drag DR81 with winter tires. tires were 285/85.

Just have to check load to be precise. Rear wheels take a heavier load.

I looked at the 21" tire options for a while and concluded that it is just better to go with a square 20" setup. The 20" M Star-spoke Bi-color Style 740M wheels look really good too IMO.

There are so many excellent and reasonably priced tire options for the 20" wheels. If you wanted just one all season tire for all year round you could go with the Michelin CrossClimate2. For summer performance tires, there is the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, which I am personally getting installed in about 1 month. They were fairly cheap (~$1200 USD installed at Costco) and have a 30,000 mile tread warranty. Performance is said to be just under the legendary Pilot Sport 4S.

I’m actually looking for all-seasons for the 21in staggered setup. A Tirerack rep suggested using the front sized tire: 275/40/21 on all 4 corners, anyone tried this, to have more tire options?

I am looking for all season tires too

I am thinking of getting Michelin Pilot Sport all season 275/40ZR 21 up front and 295/35ZR 21 rear. When I asked one of the Tire Rack people, they do not recommend. But did anyone here tried this setup? Need replacement tires soon. Thank you in advance.

Did they say they don't recommend that specific size? I was told an even square setup would be fine by a TireRack rep, not sure why they didn't recommend your solution?

I even gave them this size and they say too big.

MICHELIN® PRIMACY™ TOUR A/S 275/45R21
MICHELIN® PRIMACY™ TOUR A/S 315/40R21

But suggested that I should go to BMW forum and ask around.

Why not just do 275/40/21 all the way around?

Have you tried it or did anyone tried that setup? 275/40R21 all around?

Looks like around 2321 lbs per 275 tire, more than enough.

I think you are looking at 275/45, not 275/40. 275/40 are all 2,149lb.
The 45 is quite a bit taller, but people have done it without any apparent issues.

I’m just reiterating what I believe the Rack stated. The ratings are apparently conservative and there would be no issues with swapping 275/40/21 with the stock rear 315/35/21, both tires are 29.7in tall. This square setup opens a host of tire options up.
