I am looking to buy an X5, but need all season tires. If I buy an X5 used, and it comes with the 22 inch 742 rims can I put all season tires on those wheels? I know that those rims come with summer performance tires and living in Chicago I would definitely need all seasons. Does anyone know exactly what tires would be good for those wheels?

We currently have a GLE with Michelin Primacy Tour All seasons on it and to be honest they seem pretty bad in the winter. I am not sure if that is because they are 315 and the width makes it bad or if those tires are bad in winter.

Tire forum is pretty quiet compared to the main forum. Short answer is no. There are discussions out here about people trying it in various ways, but BMW chose some odd sizes where finding matching all seasons is hard.

I am in Minnesota and was trying to do the same thing. I gave up.

I decided to go with a different tire model front to back. Never thought I would do something like this, but there aren't any better options.

I ended up getting 20” squared set for a winter with AS tires. Basically if you need a wide range of options for all-season tires, then x5 might not be the best choice for you. You either switch tires according to a season or use 20” with AS. Everything else is half measures mostly related with installing non factory wheel sizes, which I personally would not recommend.

Have you tried looking at tirerack.com yet? There's a pirelli all season performance and a winter scorpion tie option. Not sure if they are in stock, but are options.

I'm about to order the Pirelli all seasons I found them in stock but they're gonna run $2400 bucks- BLAHHH

Way too expensive and many complain about pirelli s performance, yet it's the only all-season option in this size. I'm still on the fence regarding which tire I'm going to get next. The premium contact six did pretty well in a St Louis winter, unfortunately the mileage is low and I'll be lucky to get through another winter on them. The Michelin 4S seems like a good albeit old tire and don't do well in any type of cold. Pirelli's it is! Lol

I live in St Louis as well (St Peter's to be exact), with those 5 degree winter days I just can't see driving a summer tire with the wife and kid in the car out to the lake etc, I LOVE my PZ4- but they don't last long and are still about $500 each.

Installed 22" Pirelli P Zero All Seasons on my 2022 X5 M5.0 when it was new. After 24,000 miles with lots of it highway, the centers of the rears were wearing thin. I was diligent in keeping pressures consistent with the door sticker..39 front & 45 rear.

Living in Minnesota....the all seasons were okay but not good on the greasy skid stuff so I installed 22" Pirelli Scorpion winters last fall and was very happy with them.

Hey I hear you, I had the same concerns until I actually used them during this past winter and was surprised that they performed fairly well. One thing I did notice, especially when it was really cold or before the tires maybe had a chance to get any kind of heat in them, is that the braking performance was degraded some but not enough to be dangerous.

I know the proper configuration while using a performance summer tire is to also have a winter set to switch over to, however, I just don't want to have to manage and go through that every season i would rather just use one set. If I lived in Minnesota then I would probably have a winter set on hand.
