I doubt there's any sort of hazard considerations on BMW part considering all other car manufacturers do it fine, plus remote start only runs for 15 min so there's time limit. Also supposedly it works for all cars Dec 2019 onwards.

I have read in a press release that BMW is planning to incorporate remote activation of steering wheel heating and seat heating/ventilation in the app.

I don't know if this will be the old CD app or the new My BMW app. I hope this functionality will become available with 11/2020?

This is the correct question to ask. If we can figure this out then it will turn on when you use the remote start. I want to see it I can code this out as well.

Hi, i am new to BMW and just placed a factory order for the new X5 45E PHEV. When i built it out i got a premium package but it doesn't specifically call oet rwmote start. If i build out a hypothetical gasoline version, the premium package does include remote start, and so deos tee basic convenience package. Does this mean i won't have a remote start capability? Seems weird if the software version is the same.

My seats use to come on with 07/2019 software. Now with the 11/2020.36, just heated steering comes on.

I just dropped off my X5 at the dealer to address that issue among other little stuff. I gave them the SIB also. Will post here what the outcome is

The 45e is a bit different as the engine does not need to start to get the heater/AC going.
But is comes with the remote app function to turn on the climatization. This will also turn on steering wheel heating.

Only if the battery is very low this will not work.

Same here. Should have never upgraded the software and all would be fine since it worked initially. I wasn't expecting good features to be turned OFF for other useless garbage. Annoying

Can we not find a way to turn them on? Is it now working for you guys only when you clip the seatbelt?

My seat heater and steering wheel heater comes on when I use the key fob to remote start the car. Actually, I was thinking recently that I might turn it off because the car warms up to the point that I get in and immediately shut off the seat heater and its setup to come on at level 1.

I am on the latest software and have a x5 4.0i.

I did the OTA update which must NOT be not the latest version for the software, can you confirm your software version for us please. I'll take that information to my SA to have them update it at the shop. It is winter in Chicago so now is the time to do it.....thank you!

update! got mine back from dealer to rectify the issue of heated seats not turning on when I use remote start.

They updated the software to 11/2020.45 so now the heated seats come on AFTER I get in the car and drive away. haha!

I told them I want the heated seats on as soon as car is started remotely. They replied seats start when someone is physically in the seat. I told them it worked on previous software versions.
So, back I go on Wed

My hi-beam assist isn't working either. Can't see the icon on instrument panel. geez!

They should work with the version you have. The SIB filed with the NHTSA says that 11/2020.28 has the fix in it.

They have no control over it since they just install the software provided by BMW. If it is not heating in your version then it could be the bug was re-introduced in a later version.

As far as your high beam assist, there is a bug that was introduced in 07/2020 where every so often the setting is forgotten and the button needs to be pushed in order to enable the option. Is that maybe what is happening with yours?
