I am just curious how many who purchased this feature live in areas that the devices in question.
My state doesn't have speed cameras. It's surrounded on three sides, however, by states that do, including a large co-city in another state that's famously thick with them, about 10 minutes away. If I never left home, I wouldn't need it.

Here is a 'fiery' approach to photo related tickets:

What's odd is that I can swear when I first got the app it did show in my HUD. Don't know when it switched.
It just switched on my car yesterday, and I didn't do anything other than put in gas...

For weeks in showed up in my HUD; no rhyme or reason why it switched.

Yeah, that option isn't available in my car. But why did it just disappear on me?

Not sure, thinking there's a "ghost in the iDrive" - I haven't coded my X5 or received any OTA software updates yet.

During a short 300 miles of driving today, my wife had the wheel when one of my detector's app alerted me to a speed camera ahead. I told her to check the HUD to see if she saw an alert. No.

Hmm. I read about the profile impact on Spotify, but did not think BMW would do this to us for this particular feature. I should have checked to see if Drive Recorder works with her profile.

Is this the same for others or perhaps another factor is in play?

FWIW, I've been using Waze for red light cameras for several years. It's free. The map will show in CarPlay but I only need to hear the warning. They were ruled unconstitutional in our county though. Should be everywhere else IMO. Also caused more rear end collisions.

Does rebooting iDrive reset any coding you did? Anyone know?

It shouldn't. I always reboot after any coding done, became a habit, and the changes stay.

I'm in NYC where there are red light and speed cameras literally feet from each other.

Overall in the time I've had the traffic camera app on my car I've noticed that in most cases it will alert me of cameras that my 9500ix radar detector (which I regularly update with the Escort database) misses and vice versa, where my 9500ix will alert me of a camera that the car never notices.

I think it's a pretty good system to have both running, imo.

I drove today from OKC to North Little Rock. Escort Live (with R360c) gave me warnings about red light and speed cameras. However, I saw no such notice from the G05 system that cost $25.

I am now on 7/2020.35 and did a hard reset the day I picked up the car. Is this working as expected for others with this firmware?

Edited to say that I got red light and camera warnings today in the HUD. However, it was curious that two speed camera warnings showed up outside Birmingham today. These were not reported by Escort Live and none of my detectors registered any alerts.

Well the route warning setting mysteriously appeared very recently. I didn't do any formal software update that I'm aware of.

A few days ago I started to notice some weird notifications that I've never seen before. Just normal notifications and suggestions about settings that I knew I turned off shortly after purchasing the car. Well, they strangely came back. The first thing that crossed my mind after noticing this was to check to see if the route warning settings was now available and sure enough, it was there, whereas previously it was not. I changed it to display in the HUD and now the red-light camera warnings are back to where it was originally set.

Again, I changed nothing, so either some software changed occurred behind the scenes or some bug disappeared.

I just added it. I have 2 questions, is there any indication that it is on and working? Or does it just give a warning when it picks up a traffic camera? And does it also alert you to speed radar?
I have installed it, but I don't see any indication that's it working, Thanks for your help.

The only way to verify that it works is to find a traffic camera and drive to it. It should give you a warning about 1,000 feet away.

It also alerts to speed cameras. If you have an Escort radar detector you can use EL to find a speed camera then go test the new feature in your car.

It depends on the state. Such cameras in OK are not authorized to give tickets. Parts of TN do send tickets, but someone posted a TN state rep burning his ticket and notices. However, your car will alert you and your radar detector will give a Ka alert.

You would want to consult a web concerning state and city rules like https://www.ghsa.org/state-laws/issu...ight%20cameras

That's true, I have one a Escort Max 360c, but you have to keep paying them for updates to the database & it is not nearly as nice as the BMW implementation.

Uniden's R7 has a free database that sounds alerts for both speed and red light cameras. I got several such alerts during the recent drive of 2.5K miles.

True, there is an annual cost to update EL database just like our BMW database, but I noticed again that EL gave me an alert for a speed camera on my primary metro turnpike on Friday while the BMW said nothing.

Waze was essential during my two weeks of driving on the open road, but not much benefit in terms of these cameras.
