Coded startup mode, now air suspension has mind of it's own
I coded (bimmercode) the car to start in "sport individual", which for me, is sport suspension, and "comfort" everything else. That's how I do 95% of my driving. No problems, no issues, works as it should. While driving, suspension works exactly as it should.
The issue..... is when I park. I put the car in loading mode (100% of the time, religiously) every time I park. When I come back in an hour, or 10 minutes, or 3 days..... sometimes it's in comfort mode.... sometimes it's in sport..... sometimes it's still in loading. Sometimes.... I lock the car, stand there and watch it go back and forth between modes for absolutely no reason at all. I cannot pinpoint any specific circumstance that causes it to do this. Key in my pocket... still does it. Key locked up in an RFID box in the house.... still does it. Has NOTHING to do with droplinks. It's done this since long before I installed them. I don't recall it doing it before I coded it to start in sport individual though. Any suggestions?

Don't have an answer and can't test as I don't have air suspension, but to confirm your theory that it may be related to the coding change to initial driving mode, just code it back to stock or just Comfort and observe whether the behaviour follows coding or not.

I agree just make sure when you code it back using your backup file. This way you can ensure everything is coded back to exact parameters before you coded it in order to test your theory.

I have a similar issue with Sport Individual coded as my starting mode. Like you said driving is fine. It is when the car is off and/or locked that i see the suspension doing whatever it wants. I have my Sport individual set to use the lowest driving height. When driving it is fine. Every time i get back in the car though the suspension is on the middle height setting and the car lowers once I enter it. I'd prefer to have it just stay at the lowest driving height all the time. I am concerned about the air suspension components wearing early because it changes settings every time i enter and exit the car which is usually 4+ times a day. Prior to coding the starting mode, if i left the car in the lowest height setting (without going in to any of the sport modes manually) it would remain that way the next time i got in the car. I am going to try and re-code back to default this weekend and see what happens.

I tried to code just sport this weekend and same results of the air suspension having a mind of it own. I coded back to comfort and now it stays on the last suspension height on lock and unlock. I will keep it there for now in an effort to not have the height settings change all of the time on its own.

i can confirm that programming to the adaptive mode also causes the air suspension to do weird things. I typically lower the car for exit, but many times if I walk by the car with my FOB in my pocket, the car raises to the standard position on it's own. Crazy.....

I have mine coded to Adaptive and those seem to be the trigger for mine going back to normal height also. I don't remember having that problem when I didn't have it coded. I'm pretty sure the suspension stayed in the 2nd lowest position but not positive about that.

Mine acts the same as X54th ans Turtleboy. I also have Adaptive coded. The suspension stays in the last level set unless I trigger it with the trunk or remote start.

Good to see that I'm not the only one having this issue.
Mine definitely has a mind of it's own. Activating the trunk, etc.... has absolutely no impact on it. It just decides to revert back to the center level.... sometimes level 2.... sometimes the lowest level where I left it. No explanation.

I have to assume this is some sort of error on the part of Bimmercode. "Something" got missed when this was programmed.
I'm actually going to re-code it back to start in Adaptive as well. It seems to be coding it to Sport Individual, causing it to act squirrely when the car is off. Kinda disappointing actually. I drive in Sport Individual 99.9% of the time, it would be nice if I could code it to start that way, without additional problems.

I had my 45e configured to start in electric individual, this had the air suspension in sport mode. But here also it raised sometime to normal mode. No coding was done....
Something from the manual Long periods when vehicle is parked During long periods when the vehicle is parked, it can lower itself. This is not a malfunction. If drive-ready state is switched on with the doors closed, the vehicle is raised to the normal level automatically. Depending on the state of the vehicle, raising to normal level may take several minutes. |

This particular issue seems to impact the car only when parked, if the default startup mode is sport individual. |

interesting, several owners of the 45e also experienced and reported air suspension levels randomly changing when parked. there's a link between the air suspension level and drive mode as reported above. no coding involved. we haven't found a root cause nor solution.
